I vote for the second NE game. The Jets were poised to pass NE to take the lead in the division. Put the earlier loss behind them and show the dominance in the playoff win last year was the new norm, and usher in a new era where the Jets and not NE were the team to beat in the division. A win would also have kept the Jets on track to host a playff game and even a first round bye. Instead the loss began a second half where the Jets ended up going 3-5, missed the playoffs, and let NE get on track to win the division and the first seed in the playoffs. All the other crappy losses were crappy for sure, but none had this overall bad effect.
2nd NE game with the div in our reach hurt, but at least with this loss we still had strangle hold on #6 playoff team, a position we were familiar with, so this 'lessened' the loss a bit. Losing the Tebow game hurts less now that they're showing to be a good team, plus we had to fly out west and play then on really short week. Losing the Giants game hurt on many levels.
Eagles. Went in at 8-5 and with some confidence and momentum on a 3 game winning streak when a win could have given us an almost guaranteed playoff berth. Instead we got smacked around pretty good and began to collapse. The team never looked alive again this season after that game. Of course, after this season, asking this question is like asking which pile of dogshit on the side of the road smells the most rancid.
I was angry at a lot of games this year, but the Giants I think did it in. From the lack of ball movement, to our defense getting eaten up by 99 yard run backs, and fumbling on the goal line. We clearly didn't want that game. I know the Giants are playing lights out football right now and are finally healthy, but that game was there for us to win, and Schotty screwed us when we had a chance near the end.
2nd NE game. When we went up 9-6 I finally got the vibe that we were the better team and we are taking the division. Instead mistake after mistake after mistake happened and we blew it.
Denver for me. At that point I had a feeling this season was not going anywhere for the Jets. I also throw the Raider game in the mix. When they lost that one it was the first time I started to doubt the team. The Broncos made those doubts permanent.
Ravens game and then the Eagles game. The Ravens game because we looked like a college team. It was just a complete and utter disaster on the offensive front and it underscored everything I hate about Schotty ball. The Eagles game because, in my uneducated opinion, we needed to contain Vick instead of blitzing and play aggressive man coverage. I didn't feel we had the speed to bring a blitz on Vick and not have him take off on us. Offense needed to run the ball effectively and throw long balls.
Giants just because of Giant fans that I know . I do have to say the game that pissed me off the most was Denver , when Eric Smith couldn't seal the edge . I almost broke my tv.
Raiders for me, only because that game was really winnable, felt like the Steelers AFCG, and showed some real cracks emerging. Getting Tebow'd finished it off, but the holes were very apparent by then.
God damn this thread for exposing to me that this season may have had more excrutiating losses than any in recent memory. Probably mostly because of the lofty expectations but there's no wrong answer. Oakland game sucked knowing the upcoming two games, the Pats game at home Sunday night was one of the most depressing games, Denver game was flat out demoralizing, Eagle game idk I kind of thought the Jets would lose that game anyway so personally it only sucked because of watching it with a loud-mouth Eagle fan friend, and of course the Giant game cemented the season. Good Lord take your pick. Ugh.
Since the way Tebow wins is not too far in nature from the way Sanchez was winning games in 2009 and 2010, you may want to re-examine your outlook on Tebow. He makes some terrible throws, but he also plays like a viper in the clutch. Same as Sanchez, although the reasons for their inconsistent play are quite different.
