Just because I am rational and believe in Sanchez doesnt mean I am on his "nuts". I have been critical of him but I am not buying into this bullshit hype that he doesnt have the ability to win nor shouldnt be on this team. You can be cleared to play all you want but one bad hit to an area that already has been injured badly will fuck over this franchise big time. If we get rid of Sanchez and Peyton is not the answer we go into rebuilding mode big time. We have to stick with Sanchez and see what hes got for the next few years with a hopefully improved team on both sides of the ball, if he cant cut it then I will agree with everyone's affliction with him, somewhat.
The jury is still out whether he will even be leaving Indy so lets slow down on picking between the two. Sanchez deserves to play out his contract with this team, afterwards if he is not the answer then we need to retool. But he still has the ability in my mind to lead this team to a SB. The Sanchez vs Manning debate will come when it exists but I wont comment about ifs into they become reality.
Barkely is the best one out of them all and I still dont think he can make the big time throws in the NFL yet, to me he hasta prove a lot. He has the ability to be good but not great. Well that differs on whether or not you watch college ball. The QBs I mention are most likely going to be the big time QBs coming out in the next few years, but there could always be a RG3 or Cam Newton that lights the world on fire out of nowhere. I still dont know if Id want to build around them but the likely hood of finding a franchise QB in the next few years isnt very high. Thats why I say stick with Sanchez for the next few years. I think Sanchez can and will breakout soon, its the convincing people part thats the hardest for me.
Alex Smith basically guarenteed today that Manning wont be going to the Bay next season, Alex Smith also proved today that with good coaching a QB can win.
So you're saying we have to sign Sanchez long term? I don't get why people STILL feel this way. 3 years of mediocrity. I don't get why Jets fans are so content with mediocrity 60% of the way through a guy's contract, but a guy like Slauson, for example, outplays his potential and paygrade, and people are looking at upgrading LG. Sanchez is not the problem or the solution. He's a JAG paid like a superstar. I don't hate Mark Sanchez, but I do hate the lovefest Jets fans have for him and are so quick to defend him and rest on his 4 playoffs wins as evidence of him being so good rather than seeing the painfully obvious underperformance so far in the regular season all 3 years of his career.
Barkley had proven more than Sanchez did in my opinion and projects to be a better pro I'd say. And you can't just "stick with Sanchez for the next few years". You can for 2 years, but that's it. Otherwise you're looking to extend his contract, and I don't get why anyone wants to unless he's staying pretty damn cheap. If he is, then great. We can still invest in a QB then because he's cheap. But right now, he's too damn expensive, and too damn mediocre (and that's being generous).
The Jets aren't going to stick with Sanchez after next season if a lot of the kinks haven't been resolved. They won't stick with him even if it's obvious that other factors are holding him back. You can't keep doing the same thing and expect different results. I expect Sanchez gets next season to make a big step forward or he gets cut at the end of it and becomes somebody else's project. A big step forward is going to mean having the offense be productive as a result of his play.
I would love for your last sentence to occur. Can you imagine having a productive QB in a productive offense. Why does this feel like too much to ask for???
He fails to win a SB with the Jets and then Eli is the king Manning in town. If Peyton wins, then he pushes Eli down a huge notch. I doubt they would want to be playing in the same market.
Why would Peyton give a shit about stealing the spotlight from his little brother? I'm sure Eli can handle it. Archie can't dictate where his son goes anymore. This isn't 1998.
Peyton Manning is not going to end a long and distinguished career in a zoo like the one the NY Jets currently represent. He has no reason to do that to himself and there is no way to create rational incentives for him to do that. If he plays next season he's going to get a lot of money wherever he goes. Far from enhancing his marketability for endorsements going to the Jets would be the worst possible thing he could do in that regards. I don't know if anybody else has noticed but Rex's incessant blather has made the Jets about as toxic outside the Jet's fanbase as any team in America right now. "Us-against-the-world" is a lousy place to try and sell insurance from. Further, the Jets couldn't create rational incentives for the Colts to trade him to them. They don't have the resources to make that trade right now and Woody Johnson is not going to authorize a multi-1st round pick type deal to get Peyton because if it fails then he's really screwed with declining teams for several years as those 1st-less drafts work their way through the system. Woody's not going to go double-or-nothing on Tannenbaum at this point because he may well decide to fire him in a year or two and doubling down on him right now is a very risky move with real downside to it.
After watching this game don't discount the Ravens if manning is out there because flacco has regressed all over himself this season
Yeah Flacco blows, but I think the Ravens are tied up with Flacco. The Phins might be the biggest competition, and we CANT let him land their. That would be bad, id rather him become a Jet than become a Dolphin.
Problems with the Phins their best RB is Reggie Bush, their Defense lost Taylor and have a lot of guys hitting the market, new coach, new staff, and a shitty fan base.
Yeah but we can let Manning end up in Miami. That could basically mean the end of Rex cuz theirs no chance we make the playoffs with Manning and Brady in the division. We would need a all time defense to win it.
