I said we probably couldn't afford it...but it would be nice to have an actual pass rusher for the first time in almost a decade, no? When freaking Aaron Maybin is the best pass rusher Rex has had to work with for three years, and we wonder why the Jets aren't an elite defense. We'd certainly 'need' Mario Williams before a 35+ year old Peyton with neck issues and never done well in cold weather anyway. That would be the logical move to give Sanchez someone with NFL experience to push him and someone familiar with the system, but if we don't sign him (and he doesn't get a starting job elsewhere) that'd certainly be a damning sign that Sparano gave a thumbs down.
Wonderful, a fifth ranked D that beat up on Rex Grossman, Josh McCown, the KC QB that was so bad I can't even remember his name and Tim Tebow for 55 minutes and couldn't stop Brady, Vick, Darren McFadden and Tim Tebow when he needed to go 95 yards to win, etc.
He has not signed yet, so there is still hope. Once he does, it's time to fire Tanny and try to get RG3. If that fails, time to think ahead to the 2013 draft. In other words, none of this means the Jets have an NFL caliber starting qb.
Yeah, everybody else stops Brady. And the Jet O did not play well in either NE game. When healthy, as he was, Vick is a very productive Qb. The Eagles had problems last year early on as they had to come together with a bunch of new players, but they got better as the year went on. THe Jet O also did not play well against Philly. Denver. The Jet D gave up ten points to Denver in their house. That was not a poor performance.
Elite defenses do better than giving up 30-40 points to elite offenses and allowing non-passing QB's to drive the length of the field with the game on the line. And the Raiders were hardly an elite offense and had their way with us last year too. There's a word for defenses that beat up on bad teams and can't stop good teams - MEDIOCRE.
Washington are still making a play for Peyton even though they've been "ruled out", I suspect Tanny will do the same
For the record if those are Manning's 3 choices, then he is full of shit about wanting to win. Those are his 3 worst chances to win a SB. The Jets and Chiefs are such better choices if he wants to win.
It was awful, the D lost the game on the last possession against one of the worst offensive teams in football. 10 points for the Denver O with Tebowat QB was an average Offensive performance.
