They met with Peyton for 5-6 hours yesterday night and as FA begins the first move they make is to trade someone who was eating a TON of cap room. This looks like Manning demand, he probably didn't want to deal with the headcase. Ross wants him so bad that I wouldn't be surprised if the first thing he told Philbin to ask Peyton was, "Tell us what you want and you got it."
You mean turn the Dolphins into Indy South ? Trade Marshall for picks - then sign - Manning Reggie Wayne Garcon or Dallas Clark I highly doubt it. This is just a rebuilding move. Marshall and Philbin are not on the same wavelength, and I think the Dolphins know now that Peyton is going to Denver. I think Tebow gets traded to JAX for picks, which would make Tebow the starting QB in JAX immediately and Peyton won't feel bad about taking Tebow's spot.
If this is a way to entice Manning, then....shit. If this was just to send a douche-bag packing and save some money then...sweet.
The Dolphins had very little cap room ($5 million according to NYJetsCap.com) and a lot of Free Agents (see their O-Line). I have to assume this move was a necessity to remain competitive.
More like "Tell us who your favorite band is and we'll give them a 1% share to play live while you butt-bang J-Lo on the world's largest orange and teal trampoline."
I could actually see this being a request of Manning's and their signing all those ex-Colts to bring him in if they have the cap space for it. Then again, they don't.
This says 14 million after...plus the additional 1.6 which isn't included. http://www.nyjetscap.com/Dolphins/dolphins2012.php
The Miami Herald's Dolphins Beat Writer reported they had $13 million after tendering one of their RFAs this morning and before the Marhsall trade.
I just don't buy that Manning made any such demand. Marshall is hella talented and was supposedly very much interested in playing with Manning. This reeks of a salary cap saving move. The only legitimate connection I see to a "Manning to Miami" scenario is that this move gives the dolphins 11+ million more to throw at Peyton Manning. I really don't think Peyton Manning told them anything like "Dump Marshall and you have a chance". Without a GUARTANTEE that Manning would sign with them, the dolphins would be total fools to dump Marshall so quickly. This was a move they wanted to make by their own accord (and probably cap related)
I just really don't get this one. He was their best player... unless Philbin just didn't want him. You can't cut a guy before you actually ink Peyton...
