Surprised people here like Folk. Bottom third of the league both years in kicking %. Buehler just got cut by the Cowboys and was pretty good last year. Why not make a run at him?

I'm happy to see us bring back Folk. While he's not the most glamorous kicker in the league he's been VERY consistent since joining the Jets. I can only think of one brief bad stretch where he missed a lot of kicks, but overall he's done a good job for us.

Anytime I hear the word "competition" spoken in regards to the NYJets, I have to chuckle as it never seems to happen. At least REAL competition. They'll bring in some hack who'll be willing to kick for next to nothing but in the end, Folk will be our guy. Now TJ Conley? That's an entirely different story.

I bet Ben Graham could kick FGs better than Folk. lol.

But then again, I think he could Punt the Ball better than Conley....That's a certainty which is sad.

Folk was too sporadic. He'd make a lot of long ones, but totally whiff on the easy chip ins. He was on and off I guess. I was nervous on extra points with him, to be honest. If we could sign back feely i'd be all about it.

I know punters arnt glamorous but they truly are needed for a top notch defense field position is huge on a team that cant move the ball IE us

WTF is with these re-signings? Are we gluttons for punishment? What's next? We sign Eric Smith to an extension?

Give me a choice between Feely and Nick Folk, I'm takin' Feely all day long....and I don't care how old he is.

I've never really minded Folk tbh. He's serviceable for what he is. I know his accuracy kind of went down the tubes on some shorter kicks last year, but those have basically been his bread and butter throughout his career and I'm not ready to write a kicker off because the ball hooks a little too much at the wrong times one year.

Historically he has been pretty deplorable from long distances, and that really isn't a big deal by any means. You're not going to have a high percentage kicker almost no matter what at the New Meadowlands to start with. Moreover, when you just stop kicking from far out you can aggressively go for it on 4th down or punt and pin assuming you have a guy that is capable. Either decision doesn't give up much value at all to all but the most effective of distance kickers. We really don't need any more than Folk to get his job done and I'd hate to see some idiot come in and do terribly if we kick him out.

I agree that "competition" for him last year was a joke. And the guy pretty much out kicked Folk in preseason and still they gave the job to Folk.

Dont they understand that Kickers will win or lose big football games. We have one of the best Special Teams coaches of all time he has to know this. Do we really have to suffer through another year of 70% field goal percentage while most of the league has guys in the mid 80's?? And can we for once get a kicker who can kick the ball in the endzone on kickoffs.

My only hope is that maybe they have a guy they want to draft.
