This year will be the most intriguing and story filled season we've had since recent memory. Everyone is on our back about everything, whether it be Tebow vs Sanchez, Rex, our progression, whether or not we will bounce back to playoff form, our rookies, etc etc.

Here is a few advisories you as fans should go into the season with (please add more if you'd like):

    1. Our rookies may not produce as quickly as many of you impatient motherfuckers would like- This year's draft was extremely important for our future as well as this current year. Many of you may know that the players we have drafted are very high potential prospects, all of which could become exceptional players or straight up disappointments. What we must take into consideration as fans is that these rookies may not produce extreme numbers that you'd wish for in one season. Yes, we will be improved. Yes, we will be faster. Yes, we will be a winning team. But I just ask you as intelligent fans of this team and this sport is to be reasonable when critiquing a rookie or even a 2nd year player. Some of these kids, depending on their position, take 3 to 4 years to really shine. Coples isnt going out there and racking up 2 sacks a game and Hill isnt having a 100 reception season but they will be effective when on the field and eventually be big time players. So, before you scream out "BUST" or "GHOLSTON" on this board or even at a game, think for a minute (Yes, I know that is hard to ask of a Jet fan but hey, its the best way to go).

2.Mark Sanchez vs Tim Tebow will be a problem, but dont take it as serious as the media will- I'll be the first to admit I am a huge Mark Sanchez supporter, I think he can become, and has already shown flashes of a very good starting QB. But what I cant ignore is that Tim Tebow and his supporters will ALWAYS be waiting in the wings. This year Mark WILL have off games, Mark may even lose 5-6 games, but that doesnt mean we cant win a championship with him. Tim Tebow is a great story, and a great kid, but lets be real here, he's being brought in for 60% publicity and 40% playing time. I think he will see a solid amount of reps, and make a few great plays here or there that will excite the fans and help the media create controversy. But what we must try to do as fans is not over exaggerate his effectiveness as a backup. We cant go running around our neighborhoods in tinfoil hats screaming "TEBOW TEBOW" when the guy completes 3 passes in a game. We cant be calling for Marks head when realistically Mark has done more than Tebow has and should do even more this season. Obviously there will be Tebow-bias people on here, and I accept that, but for you "swing vote" fans, I ask you to look at the numbers before you buy into the hype of the media. Things will get hectic with this played up "battle" but don't let it consume you.

    3. Mark Sanchez will shock the league this year- Yes, I said it, and I truly believe it. I think Mark will have an impressive year this season. With an improved defense, fixed locker room, and revamped emphasis on the run, I could see Sanchez putting numbers up around 28-30 passing TDs, 4,000+ yards, 60% completion, and 14-16 Ints. It is clear when Mark has a consistent running game and solid defense he wins games and puts up good numbers, just look back into our playoff games, when the run game is effective so is he. This is one of those "good" warnings other than bad, I just want to prepare everyone for it, we will get a lot of media non sense about how this maybe a fluke or the defense is carrying this team, but as I said before, be intelligent about this and recognize that our QB is improving. Now I already see it in him, there is an obvious pattern where Mark is improving step by step each year, but many don't realize that, which is why I say to you now, OPEN YOUR FUCKING EYES.

    4. Our schedule at the beginning of the season may SUCK- In our first 7 games we verse the likes of The Bills (who are much improved), The Steelers, Miami (they suck but we always play them close), The 49ers (a young, improving team, who is very similar to us), The Texans (maybe the #1 seed this year), Indy (Yeah, theyre no threat), and New England (who as you all know will be tough to beat away). That is 4 out of 7 teams that will most likely be playoff teams. What we must take into consideration is this team may go 4-3 or 3-4 to start off the season BUT ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. We play 8 out of 9 teams following that stretch that are NON-playoff teams, besides the Pats, we play Miami at home, Seattle, St.Louis, Arizona, Jacksonville, Tennessee, San Diego, and the Bills away (where we always play well). We could easily for 7-2 or 6-3 in that stretch, making us 11-5 or 10-6, which is clearly a playoff team. I understand drama is the middle name of the New York Jets, but PLEASE lets wait till the end of the season before we announce ourselves out of contention.

Bottom line, we will face an insane season, but we have to keep our minds together as well as be prepared for the ridiculousness that will fill everything Jets related this coming year.

Im very confident in Sanchez this season. Looking at our schedule, its rough to start but easier finish. Tebow wont see the field if we are 3-2 through the first 5 games.

Good post, drama will come and the media will be waiting, but the Jets have been through it before under Rex.

Read this "Our rookies may not produce as quickly as many of you impatient motherfuckers would like” at first and just smiled hahaha, nice.

I fully agree on that idea. I said it in the Hill thread- the guy has caught less than 50 passes in his college career and is a RAW prospect. I do expect him to play, and play pretty well, but people have to understand that he is raw, there is a learning curve, and he will get much better with time. With that said, I love our draft. I think it is just what we needed, but these players will take time to produce and reach the expectations of even being half of Peppers, Megatron and Lewis...

Also, I really believe Mark will respond well this year and take that next step as a leader and passer. Im just not sure if we are going to see those numbers... we might (and I do expect us to get bigger chunk plays in the passing game), but for a QB on a run first team with a gimmick wildcat QB taking snaps away, it will be tough.

If he does end up playing to his potential, and as we expect, Tebow shouldnt be a problem at all. The best way to shut up the media and Tebots is for Mark to play well. If we are winning and Mark is playing well, then there is absolutely no QB controversy the media could make up.

I second the clapping George Costanza. Good post. Things are looking up for the Jets.

Mark will NOT throw for 4,000 yards if we are effectively running the football. I have no doubt he is completely capable of doing it, but he won't for the reason you stated. If we can't run the football, we are in serious trouble again. I believe we will be able to run the ball, and that will in and of itself keep Sanchez passing numbers down.

Good way to get our spirits up for the 2012 season. However, I will keep my expectations extremely low, and stay low throughout the season. You're right about something. 2012 is a make or break year for the Jets

I think we can do exactly what the Falcons did last year (in terms of offense from a RB and a QB). Ryan threw for 4,177 yards and Turner ran for 1,340 yards. I fully believe Greene and Sanchez can produce a 4000 yard and 1000 yard season together in this new scheme. Yes, I realize we are "suppose" to be running more but I think we will have a nice balance on offense.

Huge Sanchez supporter here saying......... the "competition" is going to be ugly.

Jets will be as good as the o-line plays. It all comes down to that for me.

Let's say I had some "inspiration".
They are all raw, Coples less than the rest of the other 2, they all have big time potential but it WILL take time to reach those highs many are hoping for, I just hope many learn that sooner or later. Look for year 2 or 3 for these guys to really break out onto the scene.

Like I said to nyjetsrule, I think the Jets can have a Falcon type offense with a great defense. A QB who throws for 4000 yards and a RB who runs for 1000+ yards, its completely possible, even with Tebow. Yes, he will take snaps away but I think he will make Sanchez even more effective with keeping drives alive constantly on 3rd and 4th downs.

The Tebow fans will never be quite, hes a phenomenon, whether he deserves that title is a huge question but for now he is in the eyes of the media and fair weather fans . Mark will shut up the haters, I truly believe that, unfortunately it will take a full season maybe even two for people to realize that.

I wouldn't advise against that, keeping expectations low makes everything better, usually. I dont think its a make or break year but its certainly a perfect time to rebound.

It all depends on our new blocking scheme, we maybe surprisingly more efficient on the line. Sanchez can be effective if the run game is consistent, its been proven over and over again.

Totally agree. Which is why im not jumping ship because they didnt improve the o-line in the draft or FA.

Change the scheme. No more Sanchez throwing the ball 69 times vs the run porous Giants.
