Remember that series in the preseason that Sanchez called and resulted in a TD? BRILLIANT. See, its easy to pick a play or two... This thread is just sad.
One word to the question, no make that two. Hell No! NYJ's are in one of the better situations they have been in since Parcells. Bet that yo.
Look at it again. Sanchez has a clear lane to McKnight who's man is backed off 5 yards and if it's completed, he has at least a first down. Sanchez does a nice job lookinf left initially but when he came back to the right, he didn't come back far enough. It's only one play that should have at least had someone across the marker but I think you guys dump to much on Schotty. He shouldn't get all the blame.
Now, imagine the entire OL performs like WFH, leaking 3-men rushers from all three sides. That's what Bradford will look like this year. Oh. Bradford will get hit as he throws - meaning, wobbly ball, picked for 6. Thank God Jets OL didn't feature 5 WFHs.
Mangina was a "ball boy" with the Browns when Belichick liked his work ethic and gave him a job. He went to the Ravens as a coaching assistant (BB got him this job because of his relationship with Ted Marchibroda, who BB first worked for) for a couple of years. Then BB brought him him to the Jets when he had an opening for a coaching assistant. He took him to NE when he left the Jets. I'd say he was BB family much moreso than Parcells. The guy would never have had any chance to coach anything without BB, and he knew just how to repay him.....
You know, come to think of it, I miss the days of Rich Kotite. The guy was a brilliant football mind and in game decision maker. His fiery personality made his post game pressers must listen radio.
There is guy on Sanchez's right waiting at the 40. If the throw is out wide he breaks over there and not to the inside WR. We clearly do dump on Schotty on too much but he has been around for a couple HC, 3 QBs, and 6 years. It was about time him and the Jets parted ways and got a fresh start. Yeah and then he turned to Schotty and said look this is really easy. I believe it was on HK
It's just Jet Homer Conventional Wisdom. Yes, Sanchez threw to the wrong receiver, and of course the homers here also refuse to aknowledge the D had seven players back. It was well defended. But yeah, let's focus on one play and misundertand what was really going on and ignore that Sanchez had a bad year, Hunter sucks, Greene did not take up all the slack LT left off from 10, Burress was no Edwards, Ferguson had a bad year, the FO did not get a suitable replacement for Turner and then Mangold, the best player on the O, got hurt, and all the other things that went on that were not Schotty's fault, like Sanchez throwing at defensive linemen and fumbling the ball, holding onto the ball too long, on and on. It's comforting to blame it all on Schotty. Only problem is that is not accurate.
a skilled play caller??? really??? dude, if our offense takes a step back without Schotty I will shoot myself in the face and be thoroughly shocked (not necessarily in that order).
I agree, it's completely inaccurate to blame it all on Schotty. It's also completely inaccurate to absolve Schotty of any blame and place it all on the players. It's the OC's job to put the players in a good position to succeed. Running a bunch of curl routes on 3rd down short of the 1st down marker is not putting players in a good position to succeed. While they could have still made it happen, and I do believe a throw to McKnight there gets it done, it wasn't an optimal situation at all. I think most of the people you label as schotty haters would agree to most of the faults you pointed out in the offensive personnel.
