OK. I get that. I hope Tebow can help the Jets and play a role in success but we will see. Should be an entertaining season.

I understand that but according to how they count years, he is in his THIRD year as an NFL player. Why do you lovers always minimize the time. He has only started 16 games, he never played with the 1st string, he didnt have OTA's last year, he didn't this he didnt that.

The fact of the matter is he has had well over 700 DAYS to get better and he hasn't what does that tell you?

Take your glasses off for just one second and honestly answer me this.

If he is the same old Tebow after this year will admit he probably isnt going to get any better?

I think he has gotten better in that 700 days. Despite all the attempts to explain it away as cosmic luck, dominant defense, whatever, you can't go 8-5 without some ability.

But yes, if he stops improving, he stops improving. This is a big year. Need to see more, specifically in the areas of his shortcomings.

You have to laugh at phaytal calling anyone out about idiocy since he is the literal court Jester when it comes to Tebow, actually he is Jorge Castanza, whatever he says about Tebow bank on it being the opposite of what happens.

He was 1-2 as a rookie starter. He was 8-5 last year (with a playoff win). Is than not improvement? The team otherwise was 4-14 during that same time period when he did not start. You need to stop throwing out false premises in your arguments. Talk to me about him needing to improve all day and I will agree with you. Starting by suggesting he has done nothing to date just makes you sound bitter.

Umm, he only came into the league in 2010, so he's GOING IN to his third year, IE, he's had 2 years to work so far. He's also had 2 different coaching staffs to work with in those first 2 years in Denver. He was also the 3rd string QB his first year, so he probably didn't learn a whole lot position wise.

As I have noted in previous discussions, Aaron Rodgers sat on the bench for 2 seasons and sucked during both. He didn't start showing any real promise until his third season as a backup. Yeah, that's the best QB in the NFL that I'm referring to and he wasn't seen as a project QB the way Tebow was.

So, forgive me for having some patience for the kid and thinking that it's just fine giving him some more time to develop.

I am sorry but that post has way too much logic and common sense to be allowed on these boards...move along...

This is the million dollar question, isn't it?

Muscle memory and habits are so hard to change. What we can't account for is his complete single minded focus. He isn't married; he doesn't date; his brother (whom he trusts completely) takes care of all of the details of life and business. Other than the occasional show/concert/game, he eats, drinks, sleeps football. Not sure I can remember any other 3rd year player who lives this way. Rookies sure, but it's hard to stay this singular in focus for multiple years.

Anyway, it'll be fun to watch. He has opportunities to prove himself and success breeds more opportunities. So, it's all up to him now.

Not bitter at all. I would be as happy as any Tebow fan anywhere if he manages the Jets to a SB win. I'm going on what I have seen so far and how I think it will affect the Jets situation. Winning games is great but you also have to look at many things in those wins and losses.

Who did they beat? I think the Broncos beat 1 team with a winning record in those 8 wins. In those wins the defense held the opponent to an average of around 15 pts. In those wins Denver scored about 17 per game... one of the worst in the league. In those wins you had the defense getting an onside kick, scoring on INT's and you had the place kicker hitting 50+ FG's for wins. The broncos were 1 boneheaded play by the RB from the bears from being 7-9 and out of the playoffs. The broncos ended up 1-4 in the last 5 games...exactly the same as the first five games.

There was a TON of luck involved in that 6 win run they had, what happened when the luck ran out? They lost 4 out their last 5 games.

Numbers don't lie and the numbers say Tebow still struggles with the same things he did on his first day as an NFL qb.

I can Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and a ton of other players. You think Joe Montana or Jerry Rice or Dick Butkus didn't live eat and breath football? This whole attitude of Tebow out works everyone is a lie.

Manning supposedly puts in 12-14 hour days all the time. No way Tebow puts in that much time.

Because he never has. He isnt in at 5 am and out at 6pm or later every day. At least nobody has ever reported it like they have with Manning. The guy sleeps at facility sometimes. Personally, I think Manning is a bit crazy but thats propably why he is so good.

In any of the reports of jets OTA's di you see anything at all that indicated Tebow out worked anyone else? Was he showing up earlier than most and leaving later than most? Nothing I read even hinted at such a thing. Where is he now? I read Manning was working on ways to get his wr / rb together over the break to continue to work.

You are making definitive statements again and on an issue you know nothing about. Do you know how much time Tebow puts in or Cromartie puts in or Sanchez puts in - no you don't. I don't either because that isn't common knowledge outside the team. You are also drawing comparisons to some of the all time greats to make your points. Bring it a little more down to earth and I might listen. If you hope Tebow takes the Jets to a SB - why are you so negative? I get you don't think he can. I just don't know yet - that's the difference. I like the way he plays football and you don't. Fair enough? I hope the Jets make the SB this year also and that's with or without Tebow at QB.

I heard his coaches from HS say that he was the one they watched practice long after his teammates went home. Can't say what happened at Florida as I didn't follow him there. But I followed him closely at Denver and he was identified as one of the first to come in and last to leave. QB coach Gase was quoted about all the Tebow calls day and night on questions on the playbook

Jets - I don't know as I only recently started following the Jet writers.

But the more important point I was making was that it's really up to Tebow to prove he can win games for the Jets. And he is being given an opportunity that not many backups get - to get into the game during plays designed specifically for him.

In the long run, it doesn't matter if he spends 2 hours a day or 24 hours a day at Cortland. He has to win. That's the only measure of success that matters in the end.

I'd say he puts more than above average effort in though, but yeh, manning is a freak, no one out works him.

There were tweets during the OTAs open to the media saying he was the first one out... :shrugs:

I would agree with that. I think he does put in more than average work. Which I would be fine with people saying ...what annoys the holy crap out of me is the fans that say, "I guarantee that Tebow will out work everyone." Its simply not true..never has been never will be.

It's just a figure of speech. He's an extraordinarily hard worker.

    Relax.

At what point do you become concerned that he is the first one in last one out out work ethic-ing everyone for years and hasn't seemed to flourish? Late bloomer a la Steve Young? We shall see.
