It seems most of the T-heads out here in the sandbox take it as an article of faith that Mark will have a bad year and TT is bound to come in & save the day, showing everyone how great he really is, finally. So here are different scenarios: What if Mark is great this year and TT spends 16 week barely sniffing the ball 4-5 times per game? What if TT gets to start (your collective wet dream coming true) and SUCKS so badly that he's booed out of the field in 10 minutes, loosing starting position to 3rd QB?
If that happens, then it is what it is. So far though, he's done better than expected. You wouldn't even give him a chance would you? You'd be foaming at the mouth if he ever got a chance to. So I'm not taking too much stock into this troll thread.
That is exactly what will happen. New York fans are not Denver fans. Tebow will not be able to last a quarter at starting QB without being booed. It will have to be a road game. Haha. I still feel this is a non-issue. The only issue is Sanchez. He succeeds, the Jets succeed, he fails, the Jets fail. Bottom line.
I don't understand the point of this hypothetical question. I think you answered the questions you were asking inside of the actual question you were asking. What exactly are you asking, and what is the point of anyone even answering?
I don't really disagree with most of this but are you saying if Sanchez doesn't do well it is a given that Tebow could never help a bad team? I will repeat these numbers 4-14 9-7.
What if this, What if that, What if Tebow scores a touchdown on every single play? Will you be happy then?
He will either run every fake punt in for a td or streak downfield with a bone~jarring hit, cause a fumble, recover and run for a td. He will do this every time the Jets punt, so there will be no qb controversy, the punt will be the goal of the Sanchez offense, and Super bowl victory will happen for the Jets!
I'll be happy if Jets score touchdown on every single play & I think that Sanchez is more likely to be the one who does that. Ppl here were 'what-iffing' over possibility of TT starting for the past 5 months. What's wrong with bringing the other possibility? Or you guys only want to talk about Tebow being great?
Sure... I'll drop everything I'm doing and go find quotes to prove the obvious. You either have an unusually low IQ, or like playing ostrich in this sandbox.
it is quite possible that if he starts he could suck, if that is the case it would look more likely that he is not developing and possibly will not develop. A distinct possiblity, but far from a certainty at this point IMO of course
If he sucks, than most people get their validation. The real question should be what if he actually is good?
whatever the intent of the OP I think it is a valid question that gives peole a chance to state their stance. I think making absoulte statements either way is silly at this point.
I don't agree -- T-heads are constantly aware of the possibility failure, of how hard it is to make it as an NFL quarterback. We've been riding that fine line for years. There have been plenty of close brushes with disaster, with failure, and a clear picture of how loudly the cheering will be (in some circles) if Tebow ever goes down in final failure. But it's still exhilarating. That's why I love football. Wondering if the great ones are up to greatness, if the mediocre ones can be a part of greatness, and wondering if the marginal ones can surprise us. People don't seem to "get" that Tebow's fans are well aquainted with the possibility that one day his chances will run out. But most of the ones I know (like myself) consider themselves better off (enjoyment wise) for having followed his exploits. This may sound weird to say, but IMO things are finally settling in to about where most of us always thought Tebow would be. We pretty much assumed he would be drafted as a promising backup, developing, and helping his team win with the things he can do. People try and white-wash history, move the goalposts, and say "I never said that," but I promise you in all seriousness and honesty -- he was badgered with internet trolling and commentary that even suggested that (1) he couldn't be an effective runner at this level; (2) that all he did was run over people in college and wasn't quick; (3) that he had a weak arm (4) that he was just a product of a system at Florida (it should be obvious in hindsight the system was to let Tebow do what he was good at) So I think sometimes Tebow's defenders seem to overreact a lot, but we've had this war over and over (even going back to SEC days), and they're so used to encountering really flawed trolling about Tebow, they've hashed it all out so much before, that they forget to really listen and see if someone's actually being fair and honest, and saying something new. The OP said something new and honest -- and I answer it with all honesty and frankness: in my opinion, we Tebow fans have contemplated quite a bit that success is no guarantee.
agreed, I think the post is full of fair questions, and questions anyone who is a tebow fan,not a worshiper, has asked themself before. Like I said I hope both Sanchez and Tebow perform well in the pre-season. If Tebow doesn't do well I will be dissapointed, but not really suprised.
