Don't like the dig at Holley Mangold. It's cruel and unnecessary. What did she do to upset him?

One thing I disagree with is “in a QB driven league the ground and pound is outta date”. The ground and pound is never out of date. It’s a ball control offense built to keep your opponent off the field and control the game.

What is out of date is the Jets believing they have a ground and pound. Our ground and pound ended after 2010.

I've been reading Serby since 1977. He's a good writer, funny, and I miss his "Mister Loser" columns.

Sadly, he is spot on. This could be the most disappointing season since 1992.

It was a complement to her and an insult to the OL.

The article is spot on. This team is a disaster.

I can't argue against anything he wrote in the article.

How is it a compliment to her?

The rules of the game have changed and the types of players in the league have changed as well. Ground and pound is fairly dated. It's useful to close out games and give your defense time to rest and regroup. The only team that really grounded out the entirety of games last year were the 49ers, and they only won games because of an incredible defense with an insane turnover ratio.

Honestly, I'm not totally against everything he wrote, but he was such a little whiny bitch about it. I swear the New York media is the only media that will throw a tantrum over 2 preseason games. What happens if Sanchez somehow throws 3-4 touchdowns in the game against Carolina? Like what will they say then? Hell, in the first 2 games we didn't even gameplan against those teams, so I'm not ready to hit the panic button even though the offense is looking lackluster as usual.

I tend to agree. The numerous changes to the rules and the development of ball control passing offenses have made ground and pound less effective by comparison.

The problem with the Ground and Pound is that it needs a game state already in your favor to be at it's most effective. If the opponent has a lead the Ground and Pound works against you because it eats the clock and reduces your chance to actually score when you are already behind on the scoreboard.

The NFL is a big play league. You could have two long, drawn-out drives that yield a TD and an FG while your defense has been great and only allowed one FG only to see the game get tied up on one big play from the offense. It's just not a model that lends itself to sustained success.

I guess you have to go to yellow journalism school to write a 822 word article to say that you don't like WFH and Tebow.

I agree it does not look good right now. BUT...this is a brand new offense and offense always takes more time to gel than defense. We just played one of the best defenses in the NFL. The Giants are SB champs and they get to every QB. We do need to something about WFH...as if there was not a jet fan in this universe that didn't get that. Thanks for pointing out the obvious Stevie.

Further if you went back to week 12 of last year, you could probably find a similar article that Serby wrote about the Giants. So take a step back from the cliff Steve.

Yeah, and Peyton Manning has won several games in his career where the Colts lost the time of possession battle in a big way. I remember one game where the Colts only had the ball for about 15 minutes and they won.

This is the one potential saving grace. It could be a combination of new offense and subpar players at the moment that is making the Jets look bad.

I don't think that's the whole story but we can always hope.

We are going to keep seeing this kind of stuff if they dont get their act together and fix our O-line issues.

As much as I respect Tim Tebow and am convinced that he tries harder than anyone else I've seen step on a football field,.....we will regret trading that 4th round draft pick to Denver for TT, when it could have been used to grab a favorite of mine - Bobby Massie RT from Mississippi.

apparently massie has the same agent as - revis. it has been said that was a contributing factor not to pick him.
