While your analogy may be spot on as far as sweaty guys on PEDs that are way too into themselves, hopefully Sunday's performance is ten fold more convincing and it's not a total waste of time like watching pro wrestling.
Is he the one who wrote the clowns article? I haven't been reading the articles in general unless they're more positive cause they're so full of shit so im wondering why you mentioned him specifically.
And of course in the wake of all these hatchet jobs, should a Jet accomodate them with a quote it'll be spun accordingly but should they give 'em the Bart Scott cold shoulder they'll be ripped as thin-skinned brats, a no-win either way. Tear the shit out of them on a daily basis yet expect these same players to give you the time of day? Get bent.
You can't really avoid it in NY, in this day and age of 24/7 news, especially when the media peppers you with like minded questions, or when family and friends see the papers and hear talk radio.
I didn't mean to suggest the players should ignore it completely. That would be unrealistic. But I do hope they don't waste too much time thinking about it, or more to the point ONLY get motivated by negative media reports.
just because something exist doesn't mean everybody is exposed to it. someone who does not watch football, listen to sports radio or watch sports television would not be exposed to it, so its abundance isn't what exposes athletes to it. at the end of the day the receiver has to actively put himself in a position to be exposed to it, so it is not impossible for an athlete to not hear a word what the media says outside of the locker room questions and press conferences if he simply chooses to not read, watch and listen to sports. if a player is listening to sports radio, reading sports papers and watching sports on television, they would do so whether it was abundant or minimal because they are seeking it out. so, they aren't exposed to it in New York because it is so abundant, they expose themselves to it in New York because they want to hear and read what is being said about them, and that athlete would search it out whether he was playing in NY or Minnesota.
I don't think he can truly avoid the media unless he has deep pockets. Isn't he forced to do a media interview once a week or get a huge fine by the NFL if he doesn't?
The entire team should go to interviews and press conferences and be silent, say nothing and just play football Rex should say nothing, Tannenbaum should say nothing give these clowns nothing
he can show up and give total BS answers. If he is required to show up he isn't required to give substantive answers. As for that rule, I believe that only applies to the HC, but I could be wrong.
I love this. I have to say I've always thought Bart Scott was the man, even after the defense shit the bed in Pittsburgh following "can't wait". I wish the entire team would boycott the media. Its all a big soap opera. Unless your giving me X's and O's, I don't want to hear it. If the media gave you actual football analysis that would be different.
If I were Rex, I would frame the clown and circus act cut of the NY Post, and hang it in the locker room all season long - to remind the whole team how they are being perceived now; and bury it once they win the VLT.
yup, they should all take a page out of tortorella's book give these jizz rag reporters nothing. absolutely nothing. then layeth the smackethdown on the field.
