When has Plax ever been a possession receiver? He's a red-zone target... Although I'd agree that signing any WR with talent is better than signing none, evne if it's a poor fit. Unless, of course, Plax is as much of a douche as Holmes.

you don't do anything. football teams aren't built or repaired during the season.

the Jets will look to develop their young receivers by actually getting them, gasp, playing time, and then will evaluate them after the season to determine their needs going forward.

player trades during the season are rare in the NFL because draft picks are considered so valuable. and last I check, the Jets still play in the NFL even if their player's skills don't appear to justify it.

stop living in MLB and Madden fantasy land.

    Save the dough.

Getting a replacement for horseshit won't salvage the season anyway.

And can this fuck (= Holmes) after this season. That would be the first order of business this off season.

Except you can't, you still owe him another 12 million bucks.

Why does Tannybum still have a job?

    Turner was cut.

Jordan White must suck a huge penis if he can't get on the active roster.

    Nobody.

Let the youngsters play (Hill, Kerley, Gates) and see if you can get anything out of Schilens if he can stay healthy over the course of a 16 game season. Upgrade White from the PS for your 5th receiver position and see what he has as well. Rotate all five in and out of the starting lineup and go from there. Worth a shot, no? No reason to bring in a Chad Johnson or Terrell Owens.

and nobody available is going to be meaningful, so what does it matter which scrub we add to them that nobody else in the league has a spot for?

point is no receiver worth having that is on another team will be worth what it would cost to obtain him. team's don't just jettison good players during the season.

If the Jets bring in a TO or a Plaxico then clearly they've learned nothing.

Don't think ya need to go unrational, whimsical ala Madden and MLB. But, good organizations adapt. The last thing you do is nothing. Certainly, there's some mid-ground.

Even your suggestion is something different. I like playing the young guys- they may recognize and take advantage of an opportunity. They may surprise ya.

Or, maybe Rex knows what he's got, and would rather just keep dropping receivers. So, he's certainly gonna need to start looking outward.

Terrence Tolliver - 6'3 mid 4's forty with fair hops
Jerrell Jackson - 6 mid 4's forty with high hops and good extension
Jarret Dilliard - 5'11 mid 4's forty with high hops and good extension
Marquis Maze - 5'8 mid 4's forty with fair hops

Point is: there is plenty ya may do, and still not be over-reacting. For a team with no heigth, and no slot receivers, one or two of these receivers could come cheap during the season.

We lose Revis they go out and get Berry, who is an established experienced corner. We lose Holmes and they stand pat. Even with an healthy Holmes our receiving corp weren't very good. Now it's even worse. I understand why they wouldn't want to go after T.O, Plax, Chad etc. But at this point what do you have to lose?

T.O when he was in Seattle still showed he had NFL level speed and was getting better very week, he was cut due to the numbers game. This is a guy we should bring in just for this season. Hill has potential but he's still raw and isn't ready to play a big role yet. Kerley is solid but he cannot be your best receiver, then we have a bunch of below average guys in Gates and Schillens.

All that and you want a 2nd and a 4th for him? :breakdance:

I thought Dez was pretty good until I looked at his career numbers. He hasn't gone over 105 yards? Only a few 100 yard games in his career? What the hell? We need to get someone that is a reliable #1 receiver, not another guy that can't scratch a 100 yard game to save his life.

He has Romo throwing in his general direction which might explain that.

I would not mind eating up Holmes' 12M to see him gone next offseason, assuming we can find even a half-way decent replacement.

Problem with that is we're already $18M over the cap for next season with not even 40 players signed.

No one who brings locker room turmoil with them. That rules out Plaxico and T.O. and Ocho. You know those guys are going to start yapping when they don't get the ball. And it's a guarantee that there will be games where they don't get it enough. Hell, if Santonio Holmes wasn't on the team I wouldn't want to pick him up. He's a douche.
