You suggesting bringing in TO completely nullifies the weight you may have carried in discussions other than the QB. Greg McElway is a 3rd stringer for a reason - because he plays great with the opposing team's 2's & 3's on the field. If McElway was so good, he would have beaten out Tebow and Sanchez for the starting job already.
Thanks for this honest opinion. Before the start of the game, I had predicted Pats would outplay Jets. I was just hoping it wouldn't be a 45-3 drubbing. However, I felt Jets outplayed the Pats almost the entire game, with the exception of those two back to back FG drives by Brady (4th quarter and OT). Jets deserved the victory as they were the better team yesterday. I felt Pats were lucky with that safety. The return TD was almost offset by the fumble, although Jets only managed 3 pts out of it.
Besides him being old, slow, terrible hands and incapable of earning a spot on the Seahawks team, he's perfect.
That is ridiculously inaccurate. No matter how well McElroy and/or Tebow play in practice, Sanchez will be the starter, realistically, because they're paying him so much, have blind faith in him (much like Tebow's faith) for no reason at all, as he hasn't played up to expectations, and because they're too stubborn to admit he's a bust.
This may be splitting hairs, but I said they "should have won", not "deserved to win". The safety, kick return, Hill's drop, the bad Sachez INT, etc. make it kind of hard to say they deserved to win. But they played well enough in general to win, for sure.
When on principle you refuse to choose between the lesser of two evils, mcElroy is the obvious choice.
I have a fans confidence that the Patriots will be better on Thanksgiving and still beat the Jets. The Pats need a bye week desperately to heal up while the Jets have lost key players for the season. I think the coaching for the Pats IS better and will improve the team. Last year the secondary sucked badly but got better as the year progressed. They still were pretty bad but better then mid-season.
he wasnt given a chance to take sanchez job. if he was, he likely would have, as its near impossible to play as poorly as sanchez has. i mean Sanchez is: 32nd in completion %(i.e. LAST) 29th in QB Rating 27th in yards per game 20th in turnovers 25th in yards per attempt it is very difficult to be worse then that. i cant imagine mcelroy, or pretty much anyone could be much worse. and it wouldnt take much at all to be better.
Sir, Mark Sanchez was 28 of 41 for 328 yards and a TD yesterday. Since when does completing 70 percent of your passes count as a bad game as a QB? He was also sacked FOUR TIMES, the last one in overtime caused a fumble, and that's on the O-line, not Sanchez. Tom Brady was 26 of 42 for 259 yards and 2TD's, but he was only sacked ONCE. So even though Sanchez was sacked 4 times he STILL put up more yards and a better percentage than Tom Brady. Let's get our facts straight before we start ripping our QB who actually had a very good game. Yes he did throw that INT that was a momentum changer, but I've seen Peyton Manning do the same thing a couple times this season too. The Jets played a damn good game up there yesterday, Mark Sanchez included.
I really think it just comes down to the fact that the whole AFC East and for that matter about 90% of the teams in the AFC in general are really just average teams. There is no clear cut dominant team this year IMO, which is why the Revis and Holmes injuries came at the worse possible time for us. Keller really does make Sanchez look a lot better, thats a credit to Keller's talent. In my opinion he is a top 10 tight end in the NFL. If he had Brady throwing to him the national media would be talking about him a lot more. He's a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. Tannenbaum deserves a lot of credit for trading up to get him.
you continue to ignore that brady didnt turn it over, had a higher QB rating, more touchdowns, and led his team to points in overtime. sanchez play decent, not well. and he played against the leagues worst pass defense. one russell wilson of all people just lit up
4 years in Sanchez should know that when he has rolled outside the tackle box part of the play is just to chuck the damn ball out of bounds if he has 2 Pats there with him. That sack just made me give up hope on him. His eyes were still down the field when he went down to make a gimme FG that the Jets really had to have much tougher. Sanchez is reminding me a lot of a less talented version of Jay Cutler these days. More than enough talent to win in this league but with a 2-bit processor running the show that breaks down in key moments when the input is too much to handle.
Sanchez played DECENT, NOT good. And the SACK was on the OL, the FUMBLE was on Sanchez. And two decent games don't make up for four years of below-average play. He is one of the worst starting QBs in the NFL right now.
The same can be said about the young Jets defense. They will be better by week 7. And if you think that Rex Ryan is not a great defensive coach you are wrong. Bet you wouldn't have predicted being 4-3 through week 7 would you? You are in new uncharted waters with your Patriots. Get used to it.
If you make more mistakes then your opponent you are not “outplaying them”. I agree with the mistakes that other posters already mentioned. And beyond that we have a few issues that need improvement: -Why are we such slugs in the two minute drill? Our clock management is still horrible. Someone on offense needs to be the leader in this situation since Mark cant seem to run a hurry up. -We would have won the game easily if our pass rush had any consistency in the second half. Our pass rush just disappears in the second half.
This is a good point on the youth of the D. And yeah, Ryan and the D did a great job yesterday without a doubt. I said I expected them to win but I said nothing about a blow out or anything. I think fans here are naturally expecting a win in the Meadowlands and I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats still win. I absolutely thought the Pats would be cruising by now. Considering that the Patriots haven't beaten an NFL-West yet, next week in London against the Rams is far from a sure win. They could easily lose again. AND at the beginning of the season I thought the games against SF and Houston wouldn't matter much. Now they probably will matter. For the Division. So I'm not as blind as you think.
