Cincinnati at Philadelphia - Cheer for Philadelphia. CIN won, so a lot of SOV tiebreaker stuff no longer matters.
NY Giants at Atlanta - No Longer Matters.
Minnesota at St. Louis - No Longer Matters.
Jacksonville at Miami - Miami will be eliminated with a loss.
Green Bay at Chicago - Doesn't matter
Washington at Cleveland - Cleveland can beat out the Jets at 8-8, so cheer for Washington
Denver at Baltimore - No Longer Matters.
Indianapolis at Houston - Cheer for Houston so IND can get to 9-7.
Tampa Bay at New Orleans - Doesn't matter
Detroit at Arizona - No Longer Matters.
Carolina at San Diego - Cheer for Carolina so SD gets eliminated.
Seattle at Buffalo - Cheer for Seattle so Buffalo gets eliminated
Pittsburgh at Dallas - Cheer for Dallas.
Kansas City at Oakland - KC plays IND in week 16, so having them on a roll would be good. Cheer for KC.
San Francisco at New England - Cheer for SF, for obvious reasons.
NY Jets at Tennessee - Duh.

Note that any ties with PIT and CIN are broken with conference record now.

No ... we want NE to win because if we can get a huge break with KC beating INDY, we want Houston playing hard against the Colts in Week 17.

The easiest way in for the Jets is to have the Colts shit the bed and go 9-7.

    Nicely done.

"Detroit at Arizona - Cheer for Detroit so NYJ's Strength of Victory improves."

Shouldn't we cheer for Arizona in this case? Though this is the least likely team to do that haha.

How does this work? Detroit at Arizona - Cheer for Detroit so NYJ's Strength of Victory improves

Wouldn't we want Arizona to win so they have a better record? :drunk:

EDIT - someone beat me to it

It is very simple -- The Dallas Cowboy are the only team that has to step up and win this week.

Cinci can finish at 9-7 and the Jets should take that tie breaker based on all the favorites winning out - no upsets needed.

The Steelers need to finish at 8-8 and if they finish at 9-7 Indy also has to be at 9-7 for the Jets to take a 4 team tie breaker - would actually get them a 5 seed over Indy.

Sorry, made a mistake there (edited up top).

As far as NE vs. SF, you could make the argument for NE, but Denver has the same record, so HOU will have something to play for either way.

I think it's actually better for Cincy to beat philly. We want them to get to 9 wins but we don't want them to beat 2 afc teams.

And we want them to get to 9 wins because they help us out if Pit gets to 9 wins, and I don't see Pit losing 2/3.

Cinci at 9-7 is fine -- Pitt getting to 8-8 is HUGE.
Dallas has to win this weekend.

Cincy getting to 9-7 beating PIT and BAL is the only way their getting to 9-7 helps us out against PIT. Otherwise 9-7 beating PHI and PIT or PHI and BAL makes them lose to PIT on division record tie-breaker.

So either way, we want CIN to lose this week.

Good post and good research and you have the right idea but you are wrong on 2 of them.

Jacksonville-Miami. Root for Miami, not Jax. Both the Bengals and Jets beat the Jags so it's a wash for SOV if the Jags win. Jets went 1-1 vs. the Fish, Bengals went 0-1. Miami wins it improves the Jets SOV.

Seattle-Buffalo. Root for Buffalo, not Seattle. Buffalo won't get to 8-8 if the Jets beat them in Week 17. A Buffalo win improves the Jets SOV. Bills and Bengals did not play.

You're right about SOV, however, it's possible for both Miami and Buffalo to beat us at 8-8. There is a chance we can make the playoffs at 8-8 and in order for that scenario to work, we want both these guys to lose this week.

Miami and Buffalo both can't go 8-8...they play each other.

Yes, but if either DO get to 8-8 and we end up at 8-8, we'll most likely lose to them on division record.

Correction. Root for New Orleans. I got them in my survivor pool and with only 8 people left there's $8,ooo on the line.

The Jets lose every tie breaker at 8-8 against every team but Cincy. If Buffalo gets to 8-8 they win the tiebreaker on division record since they will have beaten the Jets in Week 17. If Miami gets to 8-8 they win on division record or strength of victory no matter who the Jets lose to. Cleveland wins an 8-8 tiebreaker with the Jets via a better conference record 7-5 vs. 6-6. San Diego wins an 8-8 tiebreaker with the Jets virtue of a head to head win. Cincy clinches 8-8 tiebreaker with Jets if the Jets lost to SD based on common opponents tiebreaker.

Only chance the Jets have to get in at 8-8 is to win a SOV tiebreaker vs. Cincy and their one loss CAN NOT be to San Diego. That means the Steelers lose out and go 0-3 and the Bengals lose to the Eagles, beat the Steelers and lose to the Ravens.
