Thank god he's finally leaving... nice job he did with our LBs (not) and in general as a Jet.

The New York Daily News is "hearing" that Jets assistant head coach/linebackers Bob Sutton will be named defensive coordinator for the Chiefs.
The Chiefs had requested permission to interview Sutton Thursday night. Sutton has been with the Jets since 2000, under four different head coaches, running the defense from 2006-2008. His 2008 unit was ranked near the top of the NFL in run defense and sacks. Sutton has coached both the 4-3 and the 3-4 throughout his career.

Now I wonder if Rob Ryan will be our new LB coach... I don't know if i'd be too happy about it. Good coach no doubt, but working under your brother? Mmm...

Still, getting rid of Sutton is def a good news! Mangini left over... and only guy on the D staff I didn't like.

Wonder who the new Assistant-HC might be... maybe the new OC?

Why you hating on Sutton?? It's not Sutton's fault we have just about no youth at LB.

The linebackers are Old, slow and we have ignored drafting a OLB. Rex and Tanny went D-line and Secondary (Wilson). The Jets have passed on some good OLBs the past 3 years, and Sutton had to deal with a Medicare group of players.

Time to hire Rex's evil twin to be the successor.

Sutton was a shit DC for us but he was probably a good LB coach but like WW said our linebackers were old shits.

    YES! Goodbye Bob.

  11. I appreciate Sutton's contributions to the organization..and i dont blame him for the detioriation of the LB position..but it might time for a changing of the guard in the lb corps. The team has started to look out-dated in that spot & they need to start building a more mobile attacking group moving forward. Sutton moving on is likely the right call for all parties

    great news

this moron should have been fired when they fired Herman and then fired again when they fired Mangini

He has been the winner of the Richie Anderson trophy for almost 10 years as the Jet who should have been sh1tcanned years and years ago but is still hanging on and still worthless

I don't blame Sutton for the lack of talent at LB, but he really sucked as a defensive coordinator here.

Why would Rob Ryan take a job as a LB coach or was that just a twist on why Mehta was trying to say? I'm guessing he meant if Rob Ryan didn't get the Chiefs DC job he would consider him for that here but I can't imagine Johnson would ever let that happen..espeiually without a GM yet on board.

Woody has made it clear that Rex picks the coaches and the GM will pick the players. A lot of people seem to have missed this or are misconstruing it as something else for whatever reason.

Of course he may never get a GM if he lets that happen..oh wait, I'm sure he can get Tannenbaum to come back or better yet promote his assistant.

Their are other teams in the league that do this. And why are all these qualified candidates interviewing if they don't want the job with this org structure?
