And this isnt to pump up Sather..he was the one that decided to go into this season with perhaps 2 lines that could score but remarkable how those trades made this team so complete. At minimum, you have to at least put a few pucks on net with your 3rd and 4th line..with the ability to be a big contributor every 6 or 7 games. Really do believe that will be the story of this team as we some how get into the playoffs and do damage. The trades were brilliant. Gabs could average a goal a game and it would not mean as much as what each guy has contributed in different areas of the game. To do that to the Devils in a must win or season over game? Do not make light of it. What this team has done the last 3 games is nothing to sneeze at. To dominate like that and to beat the Devils the way they did. Loved seeing that team have a nervous break down from players to coach.
so Winnipeg loses in reg either tonight or tomorrow, and we beat Fla tomorrow, it's all clinched, correct? (not that that is an easy win)......I'll worry about gettting in first, but jeez it would be nice to get out of that 8 seed up to 6 or 7.
6 seed sure, we play the Crapitals. 7 seed NOOOOOO, we play Boston and will get brutally murdered. I'd much rather play the pussies sitting on top. We've seen time and time again that their wide open style can be beaten by solid defense and shutdown goaltending, the Bruins are a house of horrors.
Thursday night...10 pm will tell the story. Must win tomorrow night in Florida coupled with Washington/Winnipeg. Can the Panthers play a game against the Islanders. Then Thursday night: If we beat the Panthers can we really move up big time: Ottawa at Washington...Islanders at Philly....Rangers at Panthers....Montreal at Winnipeg. Holy crap...this will be a wild night...a night where a few will clinch spots and some may go from 5 to 8 and visa versa. GP PTS 1 z-Pittsburgh--- 45 --- 70 2. x-Boston--- 44 --- 59 3. * Washington --- 45 --- 52 4. x-Montreal --- 45 --- 59 5. x-Toronto --- 45 --- 55 6. NY Islanders --- 45 --- 53 7. The Senators do have the Flyers...but also a tough couple games and have lost 2 in a row.
I think we could easily take Boston. As long as we avoid the Pens in the 1st round (even with their injuries currently), I think we have a shot at getting back to the ECF.
Rangers are in 7th as of now. Rangers win tonight .. Winnipeg loses Rangers are in. Rangers get 4 points next 3 games, Rangers are in.. lets just fucking win
If we win out we should at least bag the 7th position...anybody notice our best stretch of the season coincides with Jonny not being here?
Easily take Boston? I think the recent success of beating mediocre-to-bad teams has clouded your vision. I don't feel overly confident with any of the potential match ups. Much more comfortable with playing Boston over Montreal just because the Bell Centre is such a house of horrors. Caps/'Peg over playing Pitt. for sure, just for obvious reasons. But the Caps are probably the hottest team in hockey right now so even that would be a tough draw. I know the Rangers are playing decently well, but excuse me for not sharing the "they got this" feeling over any potential first round match ups.
Im more confident we can beat the Montreal team right now, they suck at the moment. Capitals are abigger threat
We are all getting ahead of ourselves for sure........friggin Buffalo coudn't get it done at home. At least Ottawa lost. But..... They've been beating the Bruins fairly regularly over thes last 2 seasons......2 of 3 this year and should have had the regulation win with a 3-0 lead in the third earlier this season. Montreal is ripe to be picked off as they cotinue to backslide, giving up a lot of goals all of a sudden. Pitt is a juggernaut right now, I don't think they'll go back to the wide open style that got them KO'd last year. I want no part of the Caps or Pens. The Isles are the perfect team to pick off the Pens, hopefully somehow they end up in that 8 spot. We win tonight, and the Caps beat Winnipeg in regulation.....in.
