I've never even heard of Jaiquawn Jarrett and didn't know he was on our team, he is apparently in the mix for starting Safety opposite Dawan Landry.... Anyone know anything about this guy? This position will take a noticeable step backwards going from L. Landry/Bell to D. Landry/TBD imo, probably rooting for Josh Bush to take this one.

This will be an interesting one to watch.

personally i think Allen is a SS, not a FS. good chance he becomes Landry's backup.

Jarrett was a guy i really liked coming out in the draft, but he played terrible in his time at Philly, prompting his release.
Again, i think he may be more of a SS.

We also have a UDFA in the mix, Rontez Miles, who will get a look.

Josh Bush has a really good shot to win this thing. I just hope he's up for it.

Jarrett was one of my favorite players coming out of the draft in 2011... Sadly it seems like I was wrong on that one, but he still has the talent. Many people here loved Jarrett as well. I was hoping that they could pair him with Mo when they drafted him. He's an extremely hard hitting safety with great instincts running to the ball, and he has some solid coverage ability. Well at least thats how he was in college, thus far it hasnt translated well so who knows.

Ehh.. that's an ugly, ugly competition.

I think/hope they'll bring in a veteran body prior to TC to take the majority of the reps in the season.

The safety position is going to go from a strength to perhaps the biggest weakness on the team in one year. Counter that with another rookie starter at CB and I have a feeling many people will be disappointed in the secondary this fall.

One of these guys is going to have to play the eric smith role too. We played with 3 safeties on the field a good amount last year.

i think its not as bad as it may seem at first glance. the corners are the same from last year at worst. possibly better if millner is as advertised. at safety we are essentially asking any of the kids to be as good as a 37 year old.phisically the should be able to match the production as long as they can get the mental part we should be ok. losing l.landry will hurt but last year was his first pro bowl year. how much of that was rex helping him succeed? maybe rex can get the same production from d.landry. thats not that far fetched

I'm hoping an improved passrush will help to mask some of the growing pains/lack of experience out there at the Safety spot. Dawan has already played under Thurman/RR so that will help in terms of pre-snap positioning and assignments.

This is a rebuilding year anyway. Let them go out there and play sink or swim. We just have to hope that they learned something last year. Between watching Landry and Bell and the coaching they received. I just hope one or both have good/solid seasons.

Not sure what position battle is uglier Strong Safety or tightend.
I know Idzik and co. can't fix this whole mess in one offseason but we need to bring more players in on this team

^RR and Kerry have beef but that'd be a logical move for both parties.

Bad blood between him & Rex. Rex even had some negative things to say in his book. Which is really extreme because Rex talks up everybody.

I don't think Rex likes homo safeties. He does seem to prefer his qb's that way though.

Rontez Miles. I'm expecting him to make the roster & get some reps @ S in the preseason. Hopefully, he can be a serious candidate for starting ending of this season or next year.

I assume they can put their differences aside. Rhodes is talented and he would be an upgrade over Bush or Allen. Signing Rhodes would give Allen and Bush another year of development with more reps.

Too bad we already have a Strong Saftey (D. Landry). I believe you meant Free Saftey...
