If anyone is an ESPN Insider can you post the Jets part. TIA NFL Future Power Rankings http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/stor...ting-every-franchise-entering-2016-season#NYJ
This is the dumbest shit I've ever seen. The Jets are magically going to hop in last place this year and stay there for 2 years. How is this even possible? There were 8 teams worse than us last year, yet we're on the complete bottom. These rankings are essentially the same as this year's rankings which means they are straight trash. People really hate the Jets. It's too funny. If the Jets finish dead last this year, I'll make a public youtube video burning all of my Jets jerseys. What nonsense. These analysts are dumb as hell. Funny how all the top teams are the top teams now. How creative, yeah, you guys really did your research here. We have a solid foundation that's built on youth now, which should bode well for the future. Dead last  So we get the #1 overall pick 3 years in a row and still suck? Riiiiight.
Let em hate on the Jets.Things have a habit of changing quickly in this league. Remember the way the media treated the Giants around this time in 2011? Now I wouldn't expect that type of turnaround overnight..but the Jets are building something on defense & if they can just find some consistency on offense they can make the whole NFL eat their words.
...This is kind of impossible isn't it? predicting how everybody will do this season is unknown enough, but next year?... uh, theres no way to know. all we do know is how much potential cap space each team will have...
here ya go fellas: 32New York Jets LAST SEASON: 6-10 (third place AFC East) The bar graphs reflect the average rating given by the voters for each category. Category averages are weighted by importance to generate overall score. Roster: To resurrect the franchise, the Jets are going to need to draft well and spend smarter than what occurred under the previous regime. There's talent on both the offensive line with Nick Mangold and D'Brickashaw Ferguson protecting whoever takes the snaps and Muhammad Wilkerson anchoring a promising defensive front seven. The Jets are in desperate need of offensive skill players. -- Yates Quarterback: Adding Geno Smith in the draft gives the Jets a shot for the long term. And it gives them badly needed direction at the position. Those are things the Jets did not have one year ago, when they were oddly acquiring Tebow with no apparent vision for the future. Smith figures to face some upheaval during his first couple seasons, particularly if there's a coaching change following the 2013 campaign. Lots will happen to this roster in the next couple seasons. Mark Sanchez remains on the roster in name only. It's a very long shot to think he'll revive his career with the Jets and factor in 2016. -- Sando Draft: I gave the Jets a very high grade for their 2013 draft, but that marks a change from a stretch where they simply didn't extract enough value. It wasn't a case of bad picks at the top, but there just wasn't enough depth created with later picks. If the 2013 draft is an omen of things to come, this team is headed in the right direction. And anybody who says this class will be defined by Smith misses the point. It doesn't have to be because the Jets used a second-rounder on him, and are in no way financially tied to him if he doesn't pan out. It was a good call, and hopefully we'll see more of the same. -- Kiper Front office: New GM John Idzik has no track record. New offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg has been a proponent of the passing game. New defensive coordinator (and head coach) Rex Ryan is among the best in football. That said, questions abound. Will the addition of 2013 draftees Dee Milliner and Sheldon Richardson help a defense that, believe it or not, was playing well despite the loss of Darrelle Revis last season? This is a young group. With Rex at the helm it should continue to grow. On the other side of the ball though ... This next sentence is echoes a familiar refrain, but who is the quarterback? Will the wide receiving corps be serviceable? Will the offensive line improve from last year's disastrous performance? And will new kicking game coordinator Ben Kotwica be able to sustain the magic performed by now-retired Mike Westhoff? We will know the answers by season's end in 2013 and probably not before. -- Polian Coaching: I know what it's like to coach in New York. And Rex knows that he's on thin ice. He'll hand the offense over to Mornhinweg, but he needs to make a decision on a QB -- and soon. Rex also needs to fix this defense. He has some young playmakers and needs to put them in a position to succeed. He knows that if he doesn't win this year, he might be gone. -- Edwards
I don't know why people think we are so far off. We are a WR, TE, and Safety away from being a serious problem in the AFC. All of these positions will be addressed in next years draft. This is also under the assumption that Geno pans out as our franchise QB.
Anyone Else Losing Sleep About the WR Position? Mods if there is thread already out there on this, feel free to delete or merge. All I read about is WR injuries or WRs dropping balls in camps and OTAs. What FAs are still available?
Thanks for posting that Tommy! Why does Rex need to make a decision on QB soon? Training camp hasn't even started. It kinda defeats the purpose of a competition to pick a guy before they even get a chance to compete. Some of the excuses these idiot reporters use to put the Jets in dead last are really grasping at straws. The defense was ranked 7th... I know it's horrible and needs fixing. Lets pretend we didn't fix the old slow LB issue.
If it comes down to the front lines(Both O & D),which it often does..I like our chances. We're solid on O-line w. good depth supported by drafted prospects. Really anxious to see Winters this preseason. If he can beat out Peterman I think he'd bring a real nastiness to the starting 5.I also still believe in Vlad Ducasse's run blocking ability. One of these days they'll realize that he just needs alittle help in pass pro but is a valuable asset in the running game. The D-line expectations are well documented. If Coples,Wilkerson,Ellis & Richardson all pan out, teams are gonna have an awfully tough time moving the ball. We'll also see some big plays come our way.
If any team has the top defense in the NFL coupled with the worst offense, you'd think things would balance out and they'd win about 7-8-9 games, most likely 8. Unless you're the 2000 Ravens and win the SB.
We've got a top D that is young, fast, and vicious. As bad as our O is, our D will keep us in games enough to get us about 7 or 8 wins. Our Jets are pretty mediocre, but lol @ lumping us in with and below Jax, Buf, Cle, etc.
we have a top d that lost 7 guys from it since last year. to simply assume that these new fast guys who had mostly limited roles last year will step in and keep the d as a top d is... well i guess its what fans do. i think the d has the potential to be very good, the jury is still out at this point though.
We'll see, but I'd wager our D still ends up in the top 10 (hell, top 5 if the young guys really step up).
If Marty can get anything out of Sanchez and get our O to be decent, I could easily see us vying for a wildcard.
I wonder if ESPN can give me the lotto numbers for tonight since they're getting into the fortune telling business
