Yup. A 63 inch flat screen, will run you about 1 season ticket, and beer is 8 bucks a six pack, in your fridge, instead of in plastic that gets warm and flat by the time you are in your seat.
Going to games has become less and less viable to me. Too expensive, they have no excuse for jacking up the prices like they do. 8 dollars for a bottle of water that normally sells for less than a dollar is more than an 800% mark up, pure profit for them. I'd much rather be in the comfort of my own home with my LED big screen, free spring water that I bottle locally and food that actually is priced logically. If they want fans to go to games, they should lower their food prices. I could buy a bottle of top shelf whiskey for the same price it costs just to park there. I could buy a gourmet meal for the same price as a hot dog and soda. You get better angles of plays, it's always cold and windy there, now you can't even take high quality pictures. I can't find a single reason to go to the game. Like, what's the point?
what I don't get is why do people have to eat and drink at games? Most people tailgate, isn't that enough food and drink for you? do you have to buy 10 beers at the game? The only time I ever spend a dime inside that stadium is if I bring my son and he wants something, other than that I don't spend anything. I have done my eating and drinking outside(sometimes I may buy a Gatorade or something) but the cost of my day came from the tickets and parking. I'm there to watch a football game, if I want to eat and drink I'll go to a bar/restaurant to watch the game.
Exactly, I have season tickets for a college team and I never buy anything in the stadium nor do I ever bring anything in other than a small snack and a bottle of water for my son. I drink in the parking lot so by the time the game ends my buzz is gone. I eat in the parking lot usually some burgers or when we play Hawaii I usually grill up some steaks and shrimp because we usually go with a bunch of Hawaiians. If you are smart and realize you are there to watch and root for the Jets you shouldn't have any issue with these guidelines. I do however question the seat cushion thing. Does the stadium offer these for rent? I could see them being worried someone might try to plant explosives inside them so in that case the stadium should have them for fans that need them. And for the record, my cousin works as an usher at the stadium and he told me this is the first time the NFL isn't bringing in their own security team for the SB because unlike previous cities the crew at the Meadowlands are very well trained and prepared to deal with emergencies and security.
We can't all be super fans like you. Some of us average Joes get thirsty during a 3+ hour outdoor football game.
Because Americans eat for boredom, not because of nourishment. Really doe. You could do just fine without eating during a game.
That is yet another difference btw you and me, you want to drink and go to the bathroom, I want to watch football. That's probably why I am better able to understand what is going on w/o looking at stat sheets/rankings.
I can confirm. I got hired for security when the World Cup came to town in 1994. This was no clock watching job. I had a week of classes between location training, lockdown, etc. Pretty intense. Most of that training carried over when I stayed on to work security for the regular events as well. Of course there was the occasional jackass that left their Mic open during a concert. ^
No problem there but I have been at games where the people in front of me or next to me are constantly leaving and coming back with 2 beers spilling them everywhere and getting in the way of me watching the game. If you feel the need to get a refreshment that is one thing but 4 or 5 times in a half is just fucking ridiculous. Apparently it's pretty intense what he has gone through, it's more than just having some muscles and being in shape. What's funny is he is a really quiet guy but he was saying that the NFL already has people there working with them so going forward the Meadowlands will be one of the best trained crews in the NFL which should make all fans feel safe as these are not just average Joes in most cases.
Yeah, well not everybody likes to stuff themselves with food and beer hours before the game starts and then not eat or drink anything for the 3+ hours in the stadium. Many people enjoy snacking while watching the actual game. It goes well together. Why should people have to rush chugging beers outside of the stadium? It's still a rip off whether people have to spend the money or not. I choose to enjoy my LED TV and get my money's worth out of it and eat heather, better cheaper food, and drink better quality beer or liquor that I can actually sit and enjoy rather than having to rush through beers. $50 parking is a joke. Like really? $50 to park your car in one spot for a few hours? I just wonder how they get away with that? Too many rich people don't care I guess. I just don't like getting bent over and boned with no lube. At least buy me dinner first.
I HATE tailgate food, for a 1PM game I eat breakfast at home or pick something up then I will have something small at our tailgate. I am too into the game to snack or drink a beer, if I have anything it is a water or Gatorade. parking is a joke, ticket prices are a joke but it is in line w/ other sports teams and we are gouged the same at the movies, plays, etc... This is not a Jets thing or NFL thing.
Seriously, where does ladies pocketbooks figure into all this? That's where the problems will arise for any of us bringing women to the game. I sense a disaster at the gates for many. I didn't read a whole lot of complaints here, and I think we all know why the security has to be tight. All I ever bring in is a radio to listen to the game broadcast, but I stopped doing that last year when the radio feed became delayed 5 or 10 seconds. That made it annoying to listen to.
People need to just stop showing up, the hell with going to the games. Let the ticket market crash so these prices in general come back down to earth.
haha buncha women with clear pocket books and clear heels.... turning tricks in the upper deck bathrooms
Clear-handbagsandmore sells good bags. I bet anyone could make decent money selling them outside the stadium if they showed up with a box of them.
the problem is the teams havent figured it out yet, they still have their bs psls and overpriced tickets. there is a LONG LONG way to come back down before they are sensible.
