I don't disagree with that reasoning ... but with that said I am glad Rex is still the HC. I like him, I like his passion, and I do believe he can bring us back to the post season, and into contention for a SB.
Dennis Waszak Jr. If #Jets are basing starter vs. Jags on who performed better this week in practice, there's no doubt it was Sanchez. 9:16AM EDT ----------------------- Dennis Waszak Jr. That said, I'm guessing the original plan was to have Geno start, so they let him practice through the ankle and he didn't help himself. 9:17AM EDT --------------------------------------------- Dennis Waszak Jr. Rex said yesterday that starter vs. Jags wouldn't necessarily indicate leader in competition. But if MS is good Sat, we have a leader. 9:19AM EDT ----------------------------------------------- Rich Cimini Wouldn't be surprised if Geno doesn't play Sat. He'd get 4 days rest, return Mon to pract, prep for Giants. #Jets 9:20AM EDT
Rex and the team is on a downhill slide and he won with Mangini's players the first 2 years he was here. The players Tanny, Bradway, and Rex picked together via the draft have been mostly brutal. So he is not a good talent evaluator. (Less so for Mangini when he was part of the ruling triumvirate whose only draft mistake was Vernon with a G). You never hire a GM and leave him saddled with a coach who is not his own guy. So yes of course Rex should have ben fired along with Tanny.
I know Rex is a good coach and all. I just hope that he has learned from his mistakes and will try to do better this year. I worry that no playoffs and he is gone... Sorry for making a thread, sheesh
So clearly someone wanted to poke the fire, but was afraid to use their normal handle, so created a brand new one just to post this. Bravo.
He shouldn't have been fired before the season. This year should be make or break for him. He's earned that much. If he has a season similar to, or worse than last year, then he and Sanchez will ride off into the sunset together.
The media has an entire Nation hating on Rex Ryan. Sheep don't see the bigger picture. Top 5 defense 4 years going. If only we could figure out how to move the chains on the other side of the ball.
rex is a top HC in this league, the job he did last year w/ the beat up team we had was spectacular. He may say some dumb things once in a while but he's the best thing to happen to this franchise in my lifetime and I am glad we made the right choice to keep him and hopefully after this season we extend him.
The draft is the job of the GM, I know Rex has input but the success/failure of the drafts are not on Rex and our drafts really haven't been bad at all w/ a couple of exceptions. The biggest problem was trading away so many picks.
I am not an Rex hater. But when you bring in a new GM, he should pick his own head coach . So yeah, Rex should have been let go.
Damn, how quickly we forget and turn our backs.. He has his flaws, but I'm not ready to give up on the fact that the team will go out there and put it all on the line for him and that our D will consistently be top 10.
I have always been a Rex supporter and I was all for giving him another shot. I still am, but I am noticing he is favoring Sanchez over Geno. In how many years have we seen Rex talk about one of his players and say how bad they performed? Brutal even? I don't remember him ever doing that but he did with Geno.
Tell that to Pittsburgh... A new GM should not automatically mean firing the existing HC. My only concern would be if the 2 were not at all on the same page. Whether Rex and Idzik are on the same page.....i don't yet know. If they aren't, we are wasting our time and a good HC. I'm hoping Idzik is more open minded than 'needing to bring in his own guy'. How the team responds to this season should determine potential extension or firing, and not the GMs ego.
This...BIG TIME!!!!!! I know we as NYJ fans have suffered long and hard but be glad we aren't the Cardinals or a handful of other teams who have never hoisted a Lombardi trophy....no matter how long it has been. Too many fans think they have the cure yet haven't coached a pop warner team. It's real easy to sit in your chair each Sunday and point fingers and say this guy should be fired and this guy is great etc...etc... It's real easy when you have no idea of the goings on behind the scenes. I will compare it to a technical issue in a company. A company's web site goes down causing loss of sales...now if we were to listen to some of you people then we fire the CTO...right now. In reality, some idiot in network engineering thought it might be cute to change a port on a switch without a change control thinking that "nothing could go wrong." Sound familiar? I'm sure you all have heard something similar. Now, this company earns a consistent profit under the CTO's technical leadership. Do we fire his ass because of one knucklehead or make changes? It's basically the same thing. Until we feel he has lost his team...literally, then the discussion as whether or not it was good not to fire Rex Ryan is useless...from a fan's stand point. In no other sport as much as football is continuity key. In my lifetime I've only seen a handful of HOF QB's who could transcend all the bullshit around them and will a team, no matter the cast or leadership, to win. Everyone else needs continuity, team unity and stability to win.
