So, according to you, FULL credit to Rex on D, but limited on offense. He's the head coach, correct?

Ummm..for the lunatics who keep bringing Connor up...he was let go due to injury and thanks to an idiot of an Offensive Coordinator. Go watch this year's hard knocks...he's blowing mo'fo's up in Cincinnati. At least HE is going to start for a team that will probably make the playoffs. We are all sitting here bitching about how bad of a draft choice he was for our team. He's only bad because he's no longer ON our team...he was a Rex guy but I'd be willing to bet Sporano boo hoo'ed him off the squad.

Do you believe our defense would be a top notch every year without Rex? He's a defensive head coach that many agree should have very little say in the offense.

Looking back, he absolutely should have been demoted to DC and a new Head Coach should have been brought in. The man just isn't head coach material

Rex will lose his job because of his blind faith in Sanchez. Sanchez is trash but Rex could have become a better coach had he realized offense if part of a football team.

 yeah sure, Rex would surely take a demotion here. The man will leave this team and let the next coach worry about how to make Coples, Wilkerson and Richardson work.

Then not only would we have to worry about the offense, but the defense also.

    :rofl2: demotion

rex is the best thing to happen to this franchise in a long time

he came in and immediately changed the culture of the team. rex should, and likely is going to stay with the jets for a long time. you dont just throw away having one of the best defenses in the league

In hindsight anyone who thinks he should have been fired is a maroon who knows zero about football...

You absolutely do throw that away if you have to when you play in an offensive league. Do you seriously believe he would be hired as a head coach anywhere else? There's just no way, he knows nothing about offense but worse yet he's also unable to delegate offense. He can't manage the clock, he can't manage egos, he lets personal loyalties get in the way of what's best for the team. If he were fired as head coach and offered the DC job, I think it's more than 50-50 he would take it.

This is coming from me a guy like me who used to adore the guy. He brings confidence to the team and nobody's better on D but that's just not good enough

I liked him when he seemed to be the commander and general of this team in the past. But now he seems like a puppet without any decisive power. If their was a way to combine old rex and new rex, then that would be cool.

With all due respect , what does a top notch defense actually do for us if you have a sad offense that can't score over 14pts a game? Balance is what we need.

Get Rex an average to slightly above average offense and he'll look like a genius when hoisting the LT.

You do if he keeps sending in the worst QB in the NFL game after game.

Rex is a defensive guru. Which is why it's

A.) A blessing that we're building our defense around this man.

B.) He loves CB's which is why he developed Revis into the greatest cornerback around during his three years with Revis, we've acquired three first round CB's under Ryan in Antonio Cromartie (all-pro under coach Ryan), Kyle Wilson and Dee Milliner. He understands the importance of being able to defend the pass during this high-octane era of NFL football.

C.) How quickly some of us forget how coach Ryan has completely re-vamped our defensive line into a potential force when compared to older (aging) lineman under Mangini. New blood would be the term that comes to mind. Yea, we're all thirsty for that pass rushing OLB in which causes havoc but it all starts up front first and foremost. Maybe Coples is what we've been hungry for but under coach Ryan in has came lots of talented lineman in which can lineup all over the defensive front in Muhammad Wilkerson, Kenrick Ellis, Sheldon Richardson and Quinton Coples. This, to me, is exciting.

No, he's not an offensive genius but he is a defensive mastermind. Which is why I'm thankful we're featuring a top of the line defensive head coach and now, an experienced offensive coordinator to run our offense while Ryan focused on leading another top 5 defense.

Should Ryan have been fired in my eyes, is one of the most overreacting fan reactions and/or clueless reactions I've ever seen.

We all know how raw Sanchez has been at the quarterback position but when was the last time we've featured a head coach who's landed two AFC Championship games during his first 4 years as head coach?

When was the last time as a franchise, that we've featured top 5-10 defenses during 4 consecutive seasons in which ranked 1st in yards allowed and 1st in points allowed (09), 3rd in yards allowed and 6th in points allowed (2010), 5th in yards allowed and 20th in points allowed (2011) and 8th in yards allowed and 20th in points allowed. An average ranking of 4.25 in yards allowed and 11.75 in points allowed? Overall without question a top 5 defensive team when combing all 4 seasons together (when compared to other teams).

A coach who's completely changed the culture of our defense around (contending defense), re-vamped our defensive line with young blood, refuses to give up on our CB position, looking for that pass rushing OLB in Coples since Gholston busted under Mangini's coaching staff while leading us to two AFC Championship games with a raw/less than experienced quarterback in Mark Sanchez.

Fire this man? I'm sorry, but, I'm not willing to give up on Rex Ryan ala one of the greatest Jet head coaches in recent memory. Same can be said for all head coaches but if (and when) Ryan landed that QB that can LEAD an offense? Coach Ryan then becomes a household name for whatever franchise he's leading.

Think Idzik made a smart move because Rex guarantees him a free year. If Rex does well then everybody is happy.

If Rex falls on his face this year, he's fired. Idzik will then get to bring in his own coach & be able to supply his first coaching hire with two years of draft picks. He'll also be able to bring 2014 coach into a much better cap situation.

i say yes because i see rex being fired after this season and the jets wasting a full year of progress because woody doesnt like to pay people to stay home, which is ironic because he gets paid to stay home.
