I know Geno has been a turnover machine but the Jet defense has only forced 2 turnovers thru 4 games. It would be nice to have a short field once in a while

Yup. A turnover or two would have been a huge help today. Not just for the momentum swing, but it could have gotten us back in the game considering our offense couldn't move the ball.

Since Rex been here our defense has never really been known to force turnovers. It would be nice to get a stripsack/fumble, or int at least once a game.

This is not very accurate. If you just go by interceptions, here are the numbers:

    2009 - 17
    2010 - 12
    2011 - 19
    2012 - 11

Those are interceptions. That is not counting fumbles also.

I'll concede your point. But watching these games it doesn't seem like we force too many timely turnovers. The Cowboys game in ' 11 was the only time I remember our D forcing timely TO's.

This may be true. Something you would have to go back and look at, but I think you are correct. We do not get many TO's when we really need them. I can think of a few games, but nothing major.

Our D is overrated at this point. Where very good against the run. Our pass rush is better but still nothing special. Our pass defense is average at best, and it proved again today. I don't see us getting many turn overs. Where a good D but not as good as some might think.

Agreed. We really need a true rush OLB. Barr is looking like a great pick at this point in time.

I think we should trade a late round pick for Gordon/Britt, and maybe sign someone like Maclin in FA. This would enable us to go OLB in round 1.

Maclin/Britt/Hill/Kerley+a late playmaker like Archer is more than fine for WR.

    1. Barr
    2. Lyerla
    3. Loston
    3. Boston
    4. Archer

Sets us up for a LONG time.

This would be an interesting thing for someone to look at. While we haven't forced many turnovers, haven't 3-4 fumbles hit the ground the Jets haven't recovered? I don't remember any dropped INTs really either.

The strip sacks are definitely something that this really great DL could improve on. They've gotten to the QB but haven't knocked the ball loose.

Agreed. The fact that we have only forced 2 turnovers (from what I can remember and they were both against TB) is really disappointing.

I'd like to see Harris be a little more aggressive when he tackles. He often likes to go for the safe, guaranteed tackle, but I'd like to see him go for the ball every once in a while even if it's riskier.

If only we could play against Geno every week, we'd lead the league in turnovers.

this might be the stupidist comment I have ever heard. Being a Jet fan for 30+ years David Harris might be the most efficient, violent tacklers we have ever had. He plants people. The turnover is second man in, 1st guy secures the tackle. Period

Interceptions are less likely when you play so much man to man defense like Rex does. Zone coverage is where you will see more INT's

And the first time he goes for the ball, misses, and gives up a big play the board will be all over him. Rex's defense is designed to get the offense in 3rd in long. It's not a sack/turnover machine.

This is a very accurate statement. However, this approach is only effective when you get off the field and prevent 3rd down conversions. The Jets allowed 7 out of 11 on Sunday. Anything above 50% is a poor job defensively.
