Wow, that was a good read unbiased and raw. Can't wait to read this book. I am so thankful our Offense is in MM and Geno's hands this year.
Anyone find details on when the book comes out? Did a google search and couldn't find a release date.
Any chance this guy is the source of all those "anonymous sources"? I can't imagine letting a guy with no ties to the team have this kind of access for an entire season.
this was 2011 though. the anonymous source thing was 2012. definitely possible, maybe he kept in touch with pettine.
Pettine was the anonymous source That's been pretty much established And I think we see here that he had quite a bit to say
Rex and Pettin gave Shotty the blue prints for beating the Ravens defense and Shotty ignored all of it. Based on this I think it's safe to suggest there was a rift between Shotty and Pettin.
The anonymous sources started in 2011 with bitching about the offensive line and the offensive system in use. We think at this point that Derrick Mason was one of the sources because he was released by the club in season. No idea yet who the others were, with many fingers pointed in various directions and a lot of circumstantial evidence, e.g. Pettine playing basketball with Mehta, being throw around.
Yeah, there's a good chance it was Pettine but I just don't get why he would do that to cause grief to his buddy Rex. I'm thinkin' it was this author spewing what he heard to Mehta. That would make a lot of sense imo. Can't believe Tannenbaum would give a total random complete access to the facilities. What the fuck was he trying to accomplish there?
In theory, it's actually not a bad way to keep people in line. If you know someone is watching everything you do and reporting on it, you should be on your best behavior. In practice, however, it's an absolutely awful idea because things are bound to get ugly at some point in any confined space with that much testosterone. And you don't want it to be reported when it does. Safe to say stuff like this is what lead to the (increasingly more justified) burning at the stake of Mr. T.
No, but he didn't come off well either. Not to mention that that one negative is a huge point. What kind of fool would ignore an opportunity to use a list of an opponents weaknesses from someone with good inside information? Lemme give an analogy to show how silly that is... One day Lex Luthor is given a big whoppin' chunk of Kryptonite. Knowing he will be fighting the Man of Steel the next day good ole Lex decides to dump the Kryptonite in the nearest trash bin. Instead he decides that he is just gonna cut to the chase and kick Superman in his super junk. Shotty is like Lex here and the outcome would've been about the same: Instead of being the kicker he became the kickee... a painful reversal of fortunes I'd say.
