Let me guess, Jet fan? Yeah, nobody is talking about the Jets other than Jet fans. And I LOVE Rex, but what you call a "charismatic" coach the rest of the country is calling "clown". Maybe he's bought a little credibility but not much, not just yet. You're kidding yourself if you think anyone other that Jet Nation cares about the Jets. The "NFL" is not drooling over this game, they still drool over the big QB names--first and foremost Peyton. Maybe Geno is that in a year or 2, not just yet. _
Broncos have maxed out on primetime games, 6 is max. 6 hasn't been touched in years, the last time a team had 6 primetime game was years ago.
Thank you guys for posting this,,,,I was thinking of going to the jet dolphin game, actually looked at tickets last nite. Then a buddy calls me today and asks if I am interested in going with my kids,,,and just now I saw this thread,,,,so if these game has any chance of being flexed to a nite game, and it appears as if it could I HAVE ZERO interest in being at a nite game , on a scool nite, in the cold with my kids so man cave I shall stay  Ps if anyone has insight that this game cannot be flexed let us know as I would reconsider.
good guess on being a Jet fan on a ganggreen forum  but if you think no one outside of Jet nation is talking about the Jets, i guess you haven't turned on a tv or radio in last 5 years. they were the most discussed team of this offseason alone, albeit primarily negative. in terms of Rex, also very polarizing, and very much discussed nationally. personally i love him. those who hate on him also watch with as much interest. he is a ratings draw either way you feel about him. it is a QB league, and of course Peyton takes the cake. he won't be on every Sunday night though.. this game has all the makings of a flex, but again, i hope it isn't. PS, why did you quote "NFL". pretty sure the NFL doesn't require air quotes..
I've turned on the TV and radio every day for the last 5 years. But I live in the NY area. A lot of what we hear is local stuff. The national stuff was--as you point out--primarily negative. Nobody cares about watching a "circus"--as much as we think we matter in the grand scheme of the "NFL" we really don't. We're not the Cowboys or the Steelers or the Packers or even the Bears or Giants or Colts. Or, I hate to say it, the Pats. And we don't have Peyton Manning. When we had Favre, maybe, but not now. Not yet. _
if no one else cares about the Jets, who is the rest of the country you mention that is calling Rex a clown? you can't have it both ways; either people care about the Jets which is then manifested by criticizing Rex, or they don't. you should try to avoid the contradictory declarations. beyond that, people snickered at Rex his first year as a coach, and then he backed up his bravado and was applauded. he was pretty applauded his second season. the next two seasons the few people (hardly the rest of the country) criticizing him did so simply by drawing on his claims the first year (which he backed up), not anything he did those two seasons. he has hardly been a clown, and only an idiot would claim he is and think those claims are reflective of the widespread opinion of Rex.
You should try to avoid entering into a conversation in the middle and taking statements out of context. The sentiment is that a Jet- Dolphin match-up has mass appeal, then it was suggested that the two most talked about teams in football are the Cowboys (concur) and the Jets-albeit from a negative standpoint. I don't agree that we're anywhere near the second most talked about team in the NFL, i.e., across the country, but any talk there is about us has been generally that we're a circus. Not the second most talked about. Any talk that there IS about us is generally negative. Not contradictory. Also not a team that has mass appeal, a team folks are eager to see, outside of our fan base. My opinion, feel free to disagree. _
Imo aside from the cowboys we are the franchsise that the media likes to put it down. According to forbes the Jets are the 6th most valuable franchise in 2013. We do matter to the NFL if you did not saw 2013 draft day when its our time to pick just check commentators its totally difrent then other teams " aside from the cowboys" they are the most hated , and the first on forbes list ofc. The Jets do matter even when they are terrible.
Lol, ok. Btw, most of our "value" comes from the stadium. But you keep thinking national audiences want to see the Jets. Because we're valuable. Because of our stadium. Or because we're hated and commentators put us down, even when we're terrible. _
I did not said we are an atractive football team to watch, i said we are very relevant when it comes to getting the media atention some teams even get mad we get so much atention either on first take or espn . The Jets are one of the most hated teams in the nfl with the least superbowl winnings.
I agree with you, the context of the discussion was that a game involving us might have mass appeal. Just because we're hated or the media likes to dump on us doesn't mean people in KC or Minnesota or San Diego etc have any interest in seeing us beyond the specter of us being any other NFL team, i.e, one of the true national draws. As an NFL and football fan, I'll watch ANY game, but if I live anywhere outside the tri-state area, or unless I'm a transplant, the Jets are just any other team to watch. At least that's the way it looks to me. _
People will keep watching Sportcenter if they see a story on the Jets are coming up. The national audience loves to hear about the Jets. Im not sure where it began but I remember the Jets not recieving any national coverage for years, but then when Favre arrived in 2008 the Jets have been one of the most covered teams on the national level since then. People want to hear about the Jets, Cowboys, Eagles good or bad.
I was gonna say the eagles as well but i think eagles are more hated fanbase wise then as a football team .
With the Redskins losing to the Vikings everything has changed. Now Id say its 50/50 the game gets flexed. If the Giants split these next 2 games then I think its getting flexed. The Dolphins are now a story to, which doesnt hurt.
Fans just want important games on their Sunday night. That being said, better shot NYJ/MIA gets flexed week 17 over week 13 unless again the Eagles/Cowboys or Packers/Bears games have high significance. Talking about win or lose the NFC East or a possible wildcard/NFC North division berth on the line. I don't even think FOX has a a choice in what to keep and even then they can't keep both.
I hope it gets flexed because as of now now I will be sitting in a car on that Sunday while the game is being played.
