I put this in another thread but damn it...I'm tired of hearing it so it deserves it's own thread for discussion. I'm going to go look up a few other "talent laden" rosters to see who's winning with what...but for the NY Jets to be bitching about talent and THAT is the reason for our QB's shit production is just that....shit.

If were talking strictly talent Hill is a big body who can fly, Holmes is a great route runner with great hands, Kerley is becoming Wes Welker Jr, shifty with good hands and good route running. We have 2 pro bowlers on our O line, Kellen Winslow has proven when healthy he is a good TE with great hands, and Cumby has tremendous Physical ability.

Now we get to the QB, his footwork is so terrible they don't let him drop back from under center, he overthrows/underthrows running backs in the flat, overthrows curl routes and hitch routes consistently which is why we don't have a quick passing game, his accuracy on slants is spotty at best and he's usually late when he throws them(see the pick by Kiko Alonszo). He almost never throws the ball unless the receiver is wide open, just yesterday he had a one on one matchup in the red zone with 6'4 Cumby on a LB running a corner route and never even looked his way. By the way can he fucking recognize a blitz and fix his protection just fucking once this season, the guy can't even recognize the simplest overload concept and then people shit on our OL like the QB isn't supposed to point out the blitz.

you know you're fucked when you're comparing your team to the raiders.

good qbs make their guys look better than they really are. bad qbs make them look worse. we have the latter.

we have enough talent to get that last WC spot. Our D is very talented(though the secondary is a weakness) and we have a good OL, good RBs, decent TEs and mediocre WRs.

Lmfaoo. Then all we're missing is Sanchez.

We do not have a good OL, RBs are good, TEs are not decent, their just below decent, and WRs are just below mediocre. It all comes down to the OL, which is complete garbage.

We do not have 2 pro bowlers on the line, we have 2 former pro bowlers, who are playing like complete dogshit this year.

No QB in the NFL can succeed with this line breaking down on every play.

the lack of talent directed to the qb position is overated to say the least. I mean is it possible that everyone just sucked at the same time?

Cumberland had a nice preseason and a few good games and he is gone. Everyone points to the loss of Kerley and how that has killed him..but lets face it..he has had some poor games too.

This "Salas is our number 1 receiver" nonsense?? Salas with the other guys on the field is barely being watched.

Then that int in the end zone...you had a few posters say that Hill has dropped so far that even open Smith has no confidence in him...huh? Smith is that great that he chooses receivers now based on his confidence in them?

The Jets have a set of balls on them choosing to stick with him..and showing no confidence with him in the gameplan. If the goal by the defenders of Smith is to wait and just find out what you have here..well the coaching staff isnt buying it because they are doing everything they can to keep him from making a play.

What happened to one of the safest plays in the NFL..the quick slant? Gone from the playbook because Smith has thrown to many ints with it?

I have no idea whats going on here but I will tell you this..if it was up to Rex totally, Smith would not be behind center. This is a year of him trying to save his job and that coaching staff is doing all it can to make sure he doesnt lose games now.

w/ mark we are comfortably in the playoffs and last nights Pats win would have really hurt.

The QB is lost, they have no confidence in him and won't even let him throw. We have a good ground game so somehow that awful OL can block for the run game that Ds are keying on.

    Bingo!!!! And....
No Shit! The Mother F'n RAIDERS look better than us on Offense with a WORSE cast of characters across the board EXCEPT McFadden and he's always injured. To add insult to injury they are pulling this off with a Matt Simms wannabe in McGloin!! I can't help myself here....MATT Freak'n McGLOIN!!!!! At least Simms has a pedigree.

I HATE to agree with you concerning Sanchez but you are 100% dead spot on. If he's under center we are in the discussion for the division...not just the playoffs. But, I don't do should haves or could haves...how about what will be's...if we can get COMPETENT AVERAGE QB play then we STILL have a shot at the playoffs. It's a far shittier shot than before the Baltimore game but an outside one at the least...if we maintain status quo with Smith you kiss that shit goodbye this weekend...or next.

This is 2013, not 2009. Our o-line blows.

Give some details o'master of the O-Line. 8th ranked rushing attack. Multiple pro-bowlers...ummm...ya think it might have something to do with a QB that can't diagnose a defense? Call a change of line protections? Read, react and deliver? Move UP in the pocket as opposed to moving back?

Let's not forget that due to the fact that there's no RESPECT for his passing ability that teams are bringing 5+ guys each and every snap. It's no longer a blitz...it's a BASE defense against the likes of Geno Smith. Yeah...our o-line blows...riiigghhhttt...keep convincing yourself of that one big boy.

we still have a shot, the sched isn't brutal but we need competent QB play. Nothing fancy, ride that ground game and limit TOs. The first TO yesterday wasn't bad, it pinned Bal deep. I can live w/ that one but limit TOs especially the really bad ones.

We shall see....the brutal one was the pick in the End Zone. To me, personally, that is only trumped by a pick 6. Both are full on out demoralizers.

so because these guys went to lesser known schools they can't be better than the players on the jets roster? is that the point of the thread? because watching the game yesterday it was pretty clear there is no one on this roster who demands attention from the opposing defense and nobody to turn to when we need a big play from the offense. what that has to do with the raiders roster,i have no idea, but its a problem the jets need to fix.

and before any one disagrees answer this. when baltimore went up 6 and we needed to get something going, who did you think they should have fed the ball to? who is the game changer on this team?
