Until we get 5 big fatties who can block it won't matter who the QB, RB, TE, or WRs are.

You could fill our offensive skill positions with anyone you want but without a solid o-line foundation, this is what our offense will look like (that's Aaron Rogers running for his life):

A Qb that is able to through based on timing -- hit quick screens, slants, hot reads makes a defense back off. This opens up the running game, play action, improves the oline.

Right now the OL is facing 9 men fronts every down and Geno can't read a defense, can't make proper protection calls, can't hit the hot read, and just makes everything on the offense look stuck in quicksand.

I cant believe how many clueless Nacho homers this board still has. Why in the world would any of you want a bottom 5 QB back next year? Did you completely forget the last 4 years or something. Just because Geno has been stinking up the joint doesnt mean this clown is any better. Not to mention, he would literally get booed every single home game. Marks time as playing QB in the NFL are over. You will all see that when he doesn't land on any team next year....

I believe Sanchez is better at playing in a NFL game than Smith is.

Say what you will but he developed in his first three seasons -- season 4 was a disaster, but they guy put up 32 TDs in 2011...how many other Jets QBs have done that? Can you imagine this team with even 25 TDs from the QB position? Smith isn't going to hit 15.

Obviously you're not the GM with your brilliant retort. Neither is anyone on this board. That's why it's called a message board for people to voice their opinions. Deal with it.

This is all true. But defenses routinely stack the box and dare the QB to beat them when playing ANY rookie QB, ANY QB that can run, and ANY team with a dominant RB (see Vikings). A stacked box is a fact of life for more teams than not.

Outside the one or two teams with a prolific pocket passer that can do all the things you mention, a stacked box will be a way of life. That makes a strong athletic O-Line all the more important.

Stacking th ebox isn't a big deal for a QB that can make a quick decison, hit the slant, the screen, the hot read, audible, roll out -- Smith does none of that.

When was the last screen thrown? Pre-season ? Last attempt at a true deep pass? Pittsburgh game? The sideline route has been abandoned.back shoulder passes -- nope.
I just see Smith doing anything well.

Developed in what aspects? From terrible to just flat out bad? The sad part about that is he had 24 INT+fumbles that year as well. He has 95 turnovers in 4 years here. He is a walking turnover and a bottom of the league QB in all 4 of his years. The stats speak for themselves. Only would a delusional Jet fan want that scrub as their QB. Give it a rest.

Sanchez sucks, he is dog shit. If the Jets want to sign a washed up QB that is dog shit, the league is full of them, and the rest of them don't carry the stigma of being Mark Sanchez. There is absolutely no reason the Jets would bring him back and no chance they will.

In 2011 he had 26TD/17INT - passing stats. Rushing he had 6TD. He had 9 fumbles but that was the Wayne Hunter line that got him nearly killed several times that season.

The chance to see if he can build on the positives from 2011 - top tier red zone offense, good deep ball, good play action, solid with slants, - under Marty's offense has to make the front office think he is worth trying to bring back to compete with Smith next year.
The draft and free agency has to be dedicated to improving the offensive skill positions and the secondary.

Draft a QB late if you see someone but they need to look at true speed on offense -- a true game changer or two that makes a defensive coordinator sweat at night. If people think Geno is the real deal then he will win the competition next season and if not they will have to address the QB spot in 2015 draft, but having better overall personnel on offense makes bringing in a new QB a hell of a lot easier. Drafting a QB in 2014 with the belief they will star without improving the offense and losing Holmes/Winslow is just not realistic.

IDK why you guys bother arguing with a guy who admits he grades Sanchez on a curve and also admits that a certain yard line is near midfield for one player but isn't near midfield for another player.

    Save yourself some energy

I can link to both of those facts in case anybody is interested.

Did anyone see him play this preseason pretty sure his first pass was a touchdown... For the lions. Rather draft a QB or trade for Cousins, McCown, or anyone else at all besides buttfumble

If Mark Sanchez is failure's face, Geno Smith is the other end.
