and when Schilens wasn't starting last year rookie Stephen Hill was and that good looked a lot better w/ mark. if Moore and Slauson were better they'd be here. They weren't let go b/c of the cap. Our Ol last year was worse by a wide margin. We had kerley last year, a 2nd yr WR who is an excellent 3rd or 4th option in the pass game but was our #1 WR. last year his top 2 weapons missed most of the year- Holmes and Keller. he had a 1st year playing Cumberland, he had Schilens, he had Gates off the street, Konrad Reuland, mardy Gilyard, Jason Hill. and people seem to ignore we had TONY SPARANO running the O putting Tebow in at the worst times. This year's talent is much better(though still not very good) and the OC is a million times better. Just the OC alone gives this years group a big edge. I am wrong at times but not this time. Let's recap Joe's SB glory. Joe's Jets won division where 2nd place team was .500. mark has had the greatest team in division history to deal w/ in NE(and a real all time great QB) Joe got a "bye" they didn't earn watching 2 BETTER teams w/ better records play while he and the Jets had a bye then despite having a better record AND beating the Jets Oak had to play the game at Shea. You dom't think we would have beaten Indy at home in 2009? Peyton outdoors in january? take off your Joe underoos and look at things logically. I wasn't speaking ebonics, it was supposed to be "want" Nelson has ben pretty good though, MUCH better than Schilens and anyone not named kerley from a year ago. The OL this year has been significantly better, the RBs are significantly better, the WRs are significantly better, the OC is significantly better. Still not very good but MUCH, MUCH better than the mess we had a year ago. I don't care what football outsiders says, anyone that thinks we had a good OL last year just hasn't watched a lot of football. if our OL was so good how come we made so many changes? it wasn't cap related. Take your whininess back wherever you disappeared while the dolphins failed to reach expectations again. Link all you want, I roasted your weak arguments all offseason and will continue to do so. Not every situation is the same. remember when I said a certain INT was like a good punt? same thing this Sunday w/ geno's first pick, it was like a good punt. I am ALWAYS fair, anyone who thinks we would be much better w/ mark just doesn't understand this game.
NYJUNC was almost making sense until he tried to compare Sanchez to Namath. Not that Sanchez set the world on fire in his first three years but I could see giving him a mulligan for last year given the complete absence of offensive coaching.
Not the point, by bringing up Namath you took credibility away from what was otherwise a good post (try to avoid self destruction when making your case). It was an apples to oranges comparison at best anyway.
follow the discussion, a poster w/ Namath in his screen name was bashing me for liking mark. It was a valid point and it stands.
In fact Mark's fans will never give it up for him but in truth he is a terrible Qb and the stats will prove it out. They still give him way too much credit for taking the team to the AFC Championship games. And just because he's better than Geno doesn't mean he's exonerated from his horrible performances. I still think this season can be saved or at least on offense we possibly could be competitive. But the team has to play for now not for the future with the idea of using this season to see if Geno can be their starter. Because we're still in the playoff picture but if we lose to the Fins we're almost out of it.
I don't know if he got any better, but I do think he was beneficial for Geno on the sidelines. Not sure of the timing here - but seems as though Geno played better when Mark was there to talk to.
in the eyes of fans that know better they realize he was pretty good(until 2012) when he played for us.
Lmao yes I certainly see the objectivity in calling both an interception at 2nd and 8 from the 36 "like a good punt" for Sanchez and calling an interception from 3rd and 17 from the 42 "like a good punt". I'm glad you are so fair!
While agree with you about the jets drafting in the past, last year the Jets passed over some pretty decent players on offense, I don't know if Rex had anything to do with it or maybe that's why Idzik replaced 3 of the jets scouts with his own. I don't think next years draft is QB friendly with the exception of TB. Everyone else can be drafted at a later round. The jets already tried getting the QB first and never surrounded them with top ten offensive playmakers. I think the Jets need to draft some playmakers on offense and hopefully they can find a QB through FA or bring back MS at a reduced salary, I'm not a fan of the decision but they cannot continue this trend of wasting picks on QB's.
Regardless of whether Sanchez's career as a QB can be salvaged you can't bring him back. He would be booed out of the stadium for every turnover just like Matt Schaub this season. The fans won't have it.
What kind of question is this when the answer is simply "HELL NO"!!! The only green and white he will be seeing next year will be some other team paying him for a one year deal.
I think s lot of fans are looking at Sanchez very differently right now. The excuses for Smith have been where is the talent around him? Well people are not able to look and say where was the talent for Sanchez last year? Who did he generate 32 TDs with in 2011? People can look at Sanchez and see he sucks, but when you look at the available QBs that will b eon the market next off season who makes you think they could really start in the NFL? Who has playoff experience? Who has shown the ability to make the big throw? Jay Cutler is not coming to the Jets for cheap so that is a silly idea.
