Would a quality HC even want to come to the Jets?

Seattle's offense was hardly a juggernaut before they got Wilson. OL has been weak as well.

we have a top notch HC, only the Jets would allow Rex to walk. This is why we will never win anything.

Looks like they did a pretty good job making Wilson comfortable.

I'm thinking if we acquire some major talent on offense, fill up some holes on defense - we will definitely be in the playoffs next year.

The Jets have personnel, that I believe Rex Ryan is best fit for coaching. People are speculating and living in a dream land if they think another DC can come in here and replicate what Rex has done. They don't run a true 3-4 or anything of that nature. If we want to see our young defensive players develop at the right pace it is in the best interest of the Jets to keep Ryan.

Yeah he was pretty comfortable at home against the Cardinals. The reactions from Seattle fans is that Bevell can be a frustrating play-caller. He was passed up multiple times for other offensive coaches.

Sorry, I don't want other peoples' garbage. Roman and Bevell are overrated and should stay as coordinators.

I suspect the Cardinals D would have made Manuel and Tannehill rather uncomfortable, unlike Rex Ryan's D.

Bevell might well suck but that's really about the GM and HC being on the same page. If Idzik is a bad GM Rex isn't going to be around long anyway. I really can't tell you who will work out as HC of the Jets and I'm not making the pick. I just don't see the Jets as a team that has overachieved the last 3 years under Rex or showed that they are better coached then the other teams in the league and particularly in our division. The Jets are a decidedly middle of the pack team that has done poorly down the stretch for 3 straight years.

We made Manuel look pretty bad before, Seahawks have play-makers at every level on defense. 2 DPOTY Candidates.

If Idzik is a bad GM, he and whomever he brings along after Rex is fired will be gone pretty quick, ESPECIALLY if they fire Rex Ryan and the next coach sucks balls. Jets are then back to square one, just as bad as when Mangini was here.

Btw Jim Harbaugh and Trent Baalke (GM of 49ers) aren't always on the same page, but they are about to go to the playoffs for the 3rd straight year.

I guarantee you if Idzik fires Rex Ryan, Idzik will be under one hell of a microscope. Woody Johnson will watch him like a hawk.

Agreed. Woody looks to be a guy who's willing to spend to a point. Doesn't like to eat contracts and is looking for results pretty quickly.

He has extended some management and players pretty early in the game and I don't think he is going to be inclined to do that as much going forward.

Good point and sorry for bringing this up again, Gerry Jones regrets firing Rob Ryan and Woody does not want to fall into that trap

This is so dumb, it's the worlds biggest sports market, he will be hand selected by the GM, has a ton of cap room, some of the best defensive talent in the NFL, and a ton of draft picks. It's a coaching dream job right now.

Most teams with a top 10 QB aren't in the market for a HC, every job with a HC'ing vacancy basically comes with a big fat ? at QB, the Jets are no different. However every other facet for the Jets is a dream for an incoming coach. He needs to find a serviceable (not great QB) and draft or sign some offensive talent (he has the cap room and picks to do it too) and he can win 10-13 games every year for the next 5.

None of this sounds like a better situation than Detroit or Houston, aside from being the worlds biggest sports market.

Also being hand selected by Idzik might be a good thing, but it also might not. As fans, we have no idea.

Then again, if Idzik is afraid to fire Ryan he should just quit being a GMINO and go back to being a Cap guy.

Being "afraid" to fire someone is different than choosing not to strategically.

Splitting the hairs kinda thin there aren't we? :)

If Idzik isn't allowed to make the critical decisions surrounding this team, what good is he as a GM? Hell, Woody could have simply made Rex the GM and cut through all this bullshit. If Idzik is afraid to make the decision, he's useless as a GM as well.

    Jets, Jets

This is a great job. Some good young talent, plenty of cap room, great facilities and passionate fans. Idzik was hired to turn the club around. If he can't pick the coach after a year of evaluation then he should quit and Woody can name Rex the GM. Get real, the media and talk show types change their mind every week. Earlier they wanted him gone and now he is a hero. If they are blown out this week they will all be calling for a change. I'm glad it's Idzik call and not mine or anyone on this board or my radio.

We already have a quality coach, but yes a quality coach would definitely want to come here:

A ton of cap room; 10-12 draft picks; and an owner that spends money on Free Agents.

I'm not sure we want a "Quality" HC. I'm hopeful the Jets will get an innovative great HC, the next Lombardi, Stram, Walsh. We have had numerous "Quality" head coaches. The problem is they weren't great HC.

If Rex is fired, what would you think about Donnie Henderson for DC?

He knows the players, knows the system, and can keep everything status quo on that side without changing anything.

He has really, really helped the Bills secondary this year. He's been able to reach guys like Leodis McKelvin, and turned him into a top 10 corner. McKelvin is having, by far, the best year of his career. He also got a hold of Aaron Williams, turned him into a safety, and he's also ranked in the top 10 of safeties this year. He has confidence. Looks like a completely different player. Not to mention Robey in the slot.

I think Donnie should get a shot at DC somewhere. What would you guys think of that?
