I agree with you but that is a different question.

I disagree, Foles has played at a level that Andrew Luck has not reached yet. Wilson has proven he can handle the postseason pressure which is big in the NFL.

Foles and Wilson are right next to Luck, if not ahead.

Well, it will be interesting to see where they wind up.

At this point my theory is that in 5 years Russell Wilson is fairly likely to be banged up and less effective as a result. Whether he rebounds like Brees did or not is unclear. His physical frame is the big X factor for him. Very few under-sized QB's have prospered long-term in the NFL. Not that it couldn't happen but he'd be one of a small handful if it did.

Foles is a wild card. You can make the case that he's similar to Kurt Warner in terms of his potential and his ability to think and play outside the box. Warner was also remarkable for his ability to dominate the center of the field with his quick release. He was also a good arm but threw a wobbly ball or two in his time.

The thing that made Warner great was that he had the unusual play style and he was decisive and he had some of the best play makers in NFL history around him in that offense as well as having Orlando Pace protecting his blindside. All the pieces were there and they were all exceptional.

So if Foles is well-supported he could be dominant in the NFC East for a bunch of years. If the Eagles do this right it isn't going to matter what anybody else in that division does over the short-term, they're going to be 12-4 every year and winning the division. If they don't do it right, if they let the play makers McCoy and Jackson slip away, if they lose Jason Peters somehow, then they will be a middle of the pack team because Foles needs those great play makers to do what he does.

Luck just needs a bit more help. You get him a bit more help and he'll be running that offense for a decade. He won't be at Peyton Manning's level but they'll be in the playoffs two years out of three and they'll probably win a Super Bowl at some point.

    I disagree big time.

One thing that translates well in this league across systems is accuracy and completion percentage. Wilson is very accurate. If he was saddled with some bums, he'd obviously not be winning SBs, but he'd still be completing passes, making plays and putting his team in a position to win games.

You put Andrew Luck on the Jets last season and he looks A LOT like Geno Smith.. that's not to say I think Smith is good, it's saying I don't think Luck is very good. Or at least the jury is still out big time.

Not a chance in hell. Andrew Luck is known as one of the smartest QBs in the NFL - he wouldn't make as many dumb decisions as Geno. I highly doubt Luck goes 3+ games with less then 10 completed passes.

Luck is def the best QB in this class.

I believe that if you put Russell Wilson on the Jets last year that he looks more like Geno Smith than the Russell Wilson we saw in Seattle. The Jets had a couple of real NFL play makers and both of them missed significant parts of the year.

Geno giving up for several games after the bye skews our view of him, and Wilson might well not have been in surrender like that as a second year player but he also would not have been conducting a smooth offense the way he did in Seattle.

Context is very important in evaluating players. Seattle is the best possible context for a game managing QB at this point. Philadelphia is one of the best contexts for a gunslinger due to the great play makers they have. Indianapolis is middling to poor and the Jets are poor. You have to be able to take the filter off when you assess the performances of the people involved.

Luck is very good with very little help.
Wilson is excellent with a lot of help.
Foles is excellent with an outstanding contribution (McCoy, Jackson and an All-Pro LT in Peters) from the people around him.

Geno often sucked with no real help to speak of. Giving up when Rex dumbed down the offense was a major issue that he seems to have bounced back from. He still averaged 6.88 yards a throw, which makes everything else hard to evaluate fully. He wasn't throwing screens to talented smurfs who were taking it to the house on the Jets. That YPA means something. It's just not clear if it is an outlier or not.

I think Indianapolis' offense has a lot more talent that you are giving them credit for is all I will say. Luck has played with Wayne and an emerging T.Y. Hilton, both those guys are way better than anything we have. (we should've drafted Hilton when he came out)

Seattle has loads on talent on D. I'm not so sure the same can be said about their offense. They do run the ball well..but this year his recievers were Golden Tate, Baldwin, Kearse.. all nice players, but none of them are no. 1's. If he had Rice and Harvin the whole year that's a different story - but I also think he REALLY lights it up if he did have both of them this year.

Maybe I was a little overemphasing, maybe... when I compared him to Smith, but I just think Luck is overrated. He could flip the script, I could be wrong.
But I don't like his accuracy and I think he's lucked out a lot the last 2 seasons. I think he's the type of QB that's always going to chucking it 30 times a game, barely completing half of them and getting overrated no matter who he's playing with.

Wilson reminds me a little of bit of Brady in his younger years. Accurate, controlled football with the ability to make plays when it counted.. People underrated Brady, called him a system QB etc too. I think Wilson makes a big jump next season and opens eyes.

    This is simply wrong.

Russell Wilson would never have looked anything like Geno regardless of which team he went to.

Russell Wilson walked into that building and from Day 1 that was his team--he took it over notwithstanding the monster contract just given to Flynn. Geno never did that--he couldn't even own the building over the worst QB in the NFL.

Wilson's football IQ is so much higher than Geno's and his accuracy and athleticism are superior to Geno's. Russell Wilson knows where he is on the field at all times and doesn't make really dumb mistakes.

I am so tired of the "he had no talent" around him excuse. Wilson would have made plays.

And Geno "giving up for several games" is a new one that someone made up.

He didn't give up--he just played poorly. And he bounced back--I guess he just decided to try again?

    Please.

Absolutely wrong. Not even in the same stratosphere.

    Exactly.

And while I haven't checked- I'd guess Luck never went 3 quarters without 10 completions.

I'd take Luck if I were building a team, but based on what they've done so far:

    1. Wilson
    2. Luck
    3. Foles
    4. RGIII
    5. Tannehill
    6. Cousins

Yeah I agree. Wilson has the edge in regular season numbers and obviously you have to consider a very good performance in the SB whereas Luck threw 7 INTs in 2 games this postseason. I understand he was asked to do more, but some of the mistakes are slightly alarming. He will not be able to keep up that type of record in 1-score games, as other people pointed out. If he doesn't clean up the mistakes, the Colts will over time start to drop those games. I'm not sure I put Foles over RG3, but it's tough. Some of what Foles did struck me as "system guy" because of Kelly, although he did it remarkably effectively. Can he consistently make tough throws and become the type of player teams need to specifically gameplan for? Very much remains to be same. At the very least, RG3 was there last season but his injury has set him back so much.

I think Foles has generally been disrespected, if ANY other QB plays the way he did, we are talking about top 5. He had the highest passer rating, had a mere 2 interceptions, 27 TDs. The only flaw was that he took over the eagles week 6 rather than week 1 or else the Eagles might have been able to win enough games to get a bye week. People give way to much credit for the offense he plays in, like the offense is what makes him. At the end of the day, he is the one making the throws, he is the one making the decisions, the offense he plays in is not the biggest reason he put up unbelievable numbers, he is the biggest reason he put up unbelievable numbers.

You bring up a good point, Wilson wasnt handed the job like Luck was, Wilson earned it.

And for anyone who things Luck has played with the same amount of pressure that Wilson was under, your dead wrong. Wilson was under as much pressure as any other QB in the NFL this season, and he proved something that not everyone has, the ability to win with high expectations. If Luck was placed in Wilsons shoes, there is no lock the they still win the Super Bowl, NONE at all.

I just refuse to believe Russell Wilson could have done that much more than Geno giving that we had by far the worst (if not, top 2-3) skill players on offense in the league. Seattle offense still has some talent at the skill positions.

Can't wait till the Jets improve the offense this off season. Will see what Geno is made of then.

Well I think you would agree that QBs tend to look awesome/unstoppable in Kelly's offense dating back to Oregon. Kelly has more of a track record than Foles, who didn't put up numbers that remarkable even in college. I also think if you looked at the highlight reels of Foles's TDs this season, you would say that many of the WRs and TEs were wide open, which shows how much trouble opposing Ds had with Kelly's system. I'm not saying Foles doesn't deserve a lot of credit, but I'm saying his numbers were likely an aberration that may or may not have been repeated. I still think opposing Ds went into Eagles games last season saying "we have to try to shut down McCoy and we have to be cognizant of receivers getting free because of Kelly's system" rather than "we have to find a way to slow down Nick Foles because he is going to destroy us"

How does Kelly have a track record ? college and the NFL are completely separate. If stuff that works in college would work in NFL, guys like Tebow would have a job. How is Tebow's track record looking? Multichampion, cant even find a team now.

You are kinda correct, the jury is still out on Geno until he has NFL play makers to work with like the rest of the QBs in the league have.

Its entirely possible with a full offseason that the eagles offense crashes and burns, but if it does it be because Foles regresses. I watched that offense and TBH it was not that much different than your typical NFL offense. Sure they hiked the ball very quickly but the play selection was nothing out of the ordinary.

Through one year, his system caused opposing Ds problems, just as it did in college. Sure it helped to have a guy playing the QB position well, but there's no denying that Kelly is looked at as an offensive genius and has gotten very good QB play consistently. The Tebow comparison makes no sense to me, you are comparing a player that doesn't have an NFL skillset with a coach that runs a system designed to speed up tempo and cause all sorts of matchup problems for opposing Ds.
