I believe you are referring to Kitty Genovese who was killed in 1964, a full twenty years before the Jets moved to New Jersey. You may have just come up with the single most irrelevant posting in the history of the World Wide Web. Congratulations.
Woody is telling Rex he has 2 strikes against him by allowing him to remain HC in 2012 and 2013. This is Rex's last chance to get on base ie... go to playoffs or he is out, literally. Mark is gone and Rex will follow if he doesn't produce.
He won't lose his job unless Idzik put a better team on the field then they had last year and right now it isn't, in fact it's worse.
Hows it worse? We have a better QB and better WR. We still have the entire draft to improve the team as well to fill the DB holes. Not to mention, the loss of Cro wont be that bad since he was one of the worst DBs in football last year. If anything the the team is slightly improve but they did get lucky and pull a few games out of their ass last year so it would very well be a similar record or worse this year.
Really? Okay, after crime spiked, and this murder in particular, people began moving out of NYC. The tax base collapsed as the City's ability to hold onto businesses unraveled much like here in Trenton. So how is a bankrupt city irrelevant to whether said city could afford a millions for a new stadium when it couldn't afford police, paving the streets, or helping keep its tax base in any way. Or are you just trying to be a dick in the hope you'd look smart and I wouldn't call you on it? The fact is that during this time period NYC was entering a state of disrepair and it wasn't going to fund new stadiums, the cost was too high. Now, some history for you. The Jets announced that they wanted to play two of their home games in NJ each year in 1977 and only relented after a litigation settlement. Even so, they were clearly considering NJ as an option YEARS before they moved moving and then moved as soon as their lease ended. It isn't like the Jets and Giants decided a over a couple minutes that they wanted to move and then did so. This was a long process. So while I was off by a few years I stand by my statement: I do not think in the period of NY's decline, when NYers were fleeing the city, had begun ignoring each other in fear and the govt was damn near bankrupt, that they would have paid for a new stadium. Btw, I think you are correct about this being Genovese. I was off by a few years, I thought it was '68-71. That doesn't really change much as the crime had just as much of an impact on NYC still and the economics, demographics, etc. of the region. For example, many NYers (and hence NY sports fans) moving into suburbs, the mass transit systems becoming unsafe (at least in perception). You don't think this figured into whether a team will put money into staying somewhere? If not then you haven't aid attention to the debates over moving the Devs and Nets to Newark some years ago and other similar issues. Fact is these things are hardly the most irrelevant things on the internet. I think you just missed my point entirely.
All those three & outs are killing us. We need to keep moving the chains and keep the ball away from our opponent. A few more fist pump field goals wouldn't hurt either.
Sorry to butt in, but I've seen several different people say "smh" and I have no clue what it means. I haven't been able to figure it out. A little help if you will. Thanks.
I'll give you that it's possible that Hess may have approached the city and been rebuffed, but those kinds of things generally make news and I've never heard one Jets fan ever say that that occurred or that Hess had ever indicated any interest in owning his own stadium. As I said, the team was a business investment, so he was just trying to save spending money by not having to build his own stadium. You're right that NYC had no money at the time, but Hess easily could have afforded to build his own stadium.
Lol it means "shaking my head" ... I seen somebody on here reply with "smd" and unless he has dreads it didnt sound very friendly haha
See my previous post...I do not believe A) we wi Exactly...three and outs. Turnovers... Our defense was on the field far too long last year and a good chunk of it was beyond their control. Still no excuse for the piss poor pass defense but I'm willing to bet the overall unit looks considerably better with the average amount of rest each game.
