Revis translated to some losses last season (4-12):

Week 4 Arizona 13-10 (burned on the "island" courtesy of Larry Fitz)
Week 8 Carolina 31-13 (blocked out of his shoes, no attempt to make a play or tackle, for 2 scores)
Week 17 Saints 42-17 (burned twice on the "island" courtesy of Drew Brees)

He was no pro bowler last season. He hasn't had a "great" or even "good" season since 2011. He should do well in New England with a solid defense, but he hasn't proved shit for over two seasons; and since leaving the team, city, and coach that gave him his brand.

He's a very good player. He'll help the Patriots but he won't win many games for them that weren't already in line to win.

If Brady declines again this year the Pats are going to go something like 9-7/10-6 and there's nothing Revis is going to do to help them remedy that.

he wasn't 100%, he wasn't his usual all time great self but he was still really good and you are going to blame him for losing 42-17 and 31-13?

It's amazing, a player can help a team win but unless he single handedly wins games for a team, he is expendable.

Carolina ran right by him for 2 td's
New Orleans threw on him for 2 td's

Different games if he is able to complete his assignment.

I think he will be good in New England, they always have a talented defense and he will be an important part. I think 2014 Revis isn't as good at 2014 Talib, but that's just an opinion. I think, of the two players in 2014, Talib is the more physical, complete corner. 2008-2011 were great seasons for Revis. He was, basically, out all of 2012 and I don't think he had a great season last year in Tampa (injury, new system, whatever), he just didn't have that great a season.

Time will tell, I think he will still prove flashes of excellence. However, I don't think he will ever play at the level of dominance he proved '08-'11. I think there are better corners in the league and I don't think he is worth the money he is getting paid.

2013 Revis was better than 2013 Talib. Talib is good, revis at 80% is still the best corner in the game

Revis stats are garbage last season, you can't even argue it. Add to the fact his team went 4-12. In 2013 there are a bunch of corners that played as good or better than Revis.

Darelle Revis label reads "Made In New York City, Made by Rex Ryan"

Why did you use the win/loss record of the Bucs if you could have used the garbage stats from 2013?

There are really no stats to list bc he didn't do shit last season.

Pass defends 11 - not even in the top 36 of the NFL
Interceptions 2- no where near the top 32 in the NFL

Not a Pro Bowler season. No where close. His last good season was '11, it's been awhile.

Junc, the man did not have a good season in '13. There really isn't an argument here. The Bucs didn't even sign him back. They traded a #1 for him and than cut him loose the next season.

you knew they had a regime change, right? you know they have a defensive guy in there that is a zone coach, right?

those stats mean absolutely nothing w/o knowing how many times he was targeted. he's never going to be a high INT guy b/c QBs are smart enough not to throw his way.

2010 he had 10 PDs, ZERO INTs. Man he must have really sucked that year. ask Calvin Johnson and reggie Wayne how bad he was that year.

No problem, 2010 he was a beast; I see how those stats are irrelevant. Still, I don't know how anyone can argue '13 was a "good" season let alone a "Pro Bowl" season..? Seems like Revis was pretty invisible down in Tampa. He's making $12m this year, so you could argue his performance in '13 season cost him $4m.

This is a funny thread. Are folks actually dumping on Revis? And suggesting arguably one of the best CBs on the planet doesn't help win games?

He may have taken a slight step back this year due to the injury but to say he sucked last year or didn't help win games for the Jets or won't help win games for the Pats is nuts.

    Nuts, I tell ya.

You first post based his lack of production on stats, and now that argument is smacked out of the way so you say he "seemed" invisible. Are you basing "seems" on anything other than the fact that you didn't pay any attention to Tampa Bay last season? He didn't world-beat, which is an off year for the best CB in the game.

Are you just trying to convince yourself that he sucks? Because you aren't convincing anyone else.

I didn't not watch him as much as I used to obviously but when I saw him play I saw a really good corner, one of the best in the league. Not typical pre-injury Revis but still all pro caliber. I think we will see the old Darrelle this year and that really sucks b/c I think he could be the missing piece for NE.

Stats are great as a guide but they only tell a fraction of the story in most cases especially for a corner.

Byz, we all know this is a "what have you done for me lately" league. There was a regime change in Tampa, fine; but it cost Revis $4mil. He was out in '12 and he didn't do anything spectacular, or of significant note last season (there's no argument). His team sucked and he was right there with them the whole way through.

New England defense is a huge opportunity for Revis. You guys can all call him the best if that's what you like. I think to be called the best you have to play like the best. It's been over 2 seasons since; I think, anyone has seen #24 play like the best.
