For a second there, I thought Geno was figuring out how to lose.

But in all seriousness, reporters need to start asking more insightful questions. It's not just the Jets, on NFLN the hosts always ask 'will your team make the playoffs?' And the answer is always yes or a positive variant.

I think it's more than that, even when we made the playoffs, nobody talked like it was real. Jets hate is a strong hate. Even if Geno has a break out year and we win 10 or 11 games and make the playoffs, the only story that you'll see is how we got lucky. Hell, I think if we win the Super Bowl next year instead of getting the credit deserved the media would report it as a fluke of some type.

Maybe we're equal to the Fins right now but the Browns and Raiders? They're on like Jaguars level.

We were getting high praise at one point esp. When tanny Made the 2010 splash in the offseason .. After that its been pretty harsh.. I agree.. Jets hate is a different type of hate and i dont understand why bc we never win rings why are we the bad guys when we do good and clowns when we do bad?

Talk about kissing Idzik's butthole. This is all house dressing to make it look like Eugene was a 'smart' pick when its obvious the scrub will be on the bench before you can say Virgin Airlines.

Were the Dolphins "poor quality" when Geno had his worst game of the season against them? So if his poor performance is proof of how bad of a QB he is? Then you can't discredit his better performance against the fins. That's not reasonable.

There's a difference between answering a question and lauding praise. Rex doesn't have to bash Geno Smith when answering questions about him to provide a respectable answer, but he also doesn't need to say stupid shit like "he figured out how to win" (or the Patriots need to worry about us - - his other stupid soundbite)

A simple "we like what we've seen from him since last season, he has a good approach, etc. but we have translate it to game day" is a perfectly acceptable answer to that question that doesn't make Rex look like a fool, keeps this team under the radar, etc.

It's been the same thing with Rex since he got here. He has to provide the soundbite, every time. That's fine if that's his style then he needs to back it up... i.e. no "crying" when it comes out he's on the hot seat like last season. It also means people are always going to have a hard time taking him seriously.

I've been in "show me" mode for a long time now. Anybody that takes what Rex says in an interview seriously needs professional help.

Playing well on the road to end the season was a vote of confidence for me. Dolphins beat the Jets and the Dolphins I believe were in the playoffs.

The majority of the credit should go to the coaching staff though - despite going 8-8, I thought they showed plenty of improvement.

Didn't the US Soccer coach, prior to this past World Cup admit that the U.S. didn't have a chance this year, and he was playing for 2018. People weren't happy.

I am hardly a fish fan, but since I recognize them as divisional opponents, and beyond that hate the franchise and their awful fans, I do tend to follow them more than your average NFL franchise. You must have missed all the turmoil they were going through as they approached the end of the season, and which directly affected their performance on the field. During the first game they were not laboring under that pressure, but by the game before the second one, they failed to score a single point. Against Buffalo. Wow.

    Try paying more attention.

Rex likes talking up his players/team I take it with a grain of salt. But yeah I'll believe it when I see it is my motto for both of my favorite teams (Nets included)
If the Dolphins won that game they would've been the 6th seed. Instead the Jets came through and crushed the buildings.
