Signing Revis would cause problems all over the organization in terms of our ability to sign other people. It would lock a lot of the cap into a position that is just not a cornerstone position unless the rest of the roster is already very good. Picture what Mo Wilk would be coming at the Jets for if they signed Revis to a huge deal.
THe Oakland Raiders won a Super Bowl with Mike Haynes and Lester Hayes each playing man corner. I know you will refer to the cap caveat, but I don't think they were the highest paid roster or anything like that. But enough of litigating that issue. I am certain you are just plain wrong about it, and note that NE is a very well run team and they have Revis on their roster for a reason.
Revis with a pick 6 of Brady in camp. has racked up a few Brady picks this camp. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/20...k-six_against_tom_brady_at_patriots_camp.html couple other notes, the pick came after Wilfork put pressure up the middle. We've long known that Brady buckles with up the middle pressure. Let's go Snack Exchange! Other note, Revis is practicing special teams roles. BB looking to take full advantage of his talents. didn't say which teams, but i would guess Punt returns or block kick. and people here bitched quite a bit about letting a rookie practice on the ST. I think Revis will have his best year since 09. Teams that fall behind will have to throw his way. Factor that in with Special teams, and this could well be his best statistical year.
That is definitely true. And they will have Browner on the other side he was a top corner before his suspension. That New England team is going to be pretty damn good, I honestly think this is their best roster since 2007 because they do have a respectable defense now.
Don't call names, Big Boy, it's very immature. "Plenty of evidence" requires a bit of substantiation. While there may have been no in depth negotiations, how do you know none took place at all?
"Very well run team" I'm pretty certain there is a strong case against your quote. Caught cheating and penalized for it, numerous other cheating allegations, enlisting poor character players/known "gangsters"
You said there was no evidence. None of us have complete knowledge of the subject matter at hand. But there was never any indication that the Jets even considered making an offer, let alone explored making one. You really are grasping at straws here, and yes, that and other things you have said and done show you to be a Jet FO Homer, which is a description, and a fair and accurate one.
Thats why i said give em one year, if he's ok with going our route then he'll sign a some what team friendly deal. If he doesnt, let em walk and again look like a jack ass and tell em good luck finding somebody that will entertain that BS ever again. But oh well he's the enemy now.. cant wait to run all over them again as he stands on the outside bored
That's because there was no evidence. No quotes, nobody who was inside the organization said anything. Your turn - give us just a bit of the "plenty of evidence" to which you referred.
I do think that signing Revis this year could have hurt us financially. Next year is the far better time to sign him. Jets will have even more money to spend than this off season and it probably wouldn't cripple us. If Milliner and McDougle emerge and play at least decently, there's no pressing need to, however. Revis would be downright scary with the pass rush we have now, though. Look at Richard Sherman. I don't think he's better than Revis, but Seattle's front 7 forces QBs to rush the ball out and make mistakes and he feasts on it.
The absence of evidence that the Jets tried to negotiate a deal with Revis is evidence. It is like having a motive to kill someone, the ability to do so, and NOT having an alibi. A lack of something can very well be evidence. Any reasonable person here would acknowledge that the Jets did not even try to negotiate a deal with Revis. If they had tried to, we would have heard about it. Is it relevant that they did not even try? I think so, and if you think otherwise, feel free to live in your FO Homer wonderland.
A respectable defense that allowed 2nd year concussion-filled Jordan Reed to light them up in Skins-Pats practices
You'd be a laugh riot in a courtroom. The bottom line is, other than the final result, you have no idea what the Jets did or did not do with regard to negotiating with Revis.
Looks like the Patriots are working on a long term deal with Revis after being impressed with his performance in training camp: http://www.boston.com/sports/footba...end_darrelle.html?p1=Topofpage:sub_headline_2
He's going to want around the same as Patrick Peterson. 60+ Million extension at the least. Good luck with that. The man takes no discount. You guys opened up Pandora's Box.
Revis saves, Revis saves, Revis Saaavvees!!! Run the football right at him. Not the same tackler as '08, '09 or '10. Book him long term New England and enjoy the non football related roller coaster rides
Think of it this way. Revis Christ shall save us again, by putting the Patriots in cap hell, so that when Brady retires in a couple years and BB flees the scene, they will be stuck with a steamy pile of shit for the next 3-4 years. But their defense will be good.
No... Absence of evidence is not evidence... And not having an alabi is not evidence either. It's clear that they didn't make a strong push to bring him back, but we don't know what went on because it's private. Idzik won't really say. I read that the Patriots are already in talks with Revis for an extension after seeing him in practice.
Why does anyone even bother responding to Big Blocker? He knows as much about football as any of us knows about real estate law. He's a boring twit. Push him aside. What we should be interested in is that the Patriots are interested in sinking valuable cap space into a player that won't take No for an answer. Get excited about that. The funnier part is that Pats fans are dreaming about getting him for a bargain.
Peterson got 14.1 a year to bump him over Sherman's 14 right? Revis will aim for that guaranteed. At least that would be his starting point is my assumption
