Lol at these paranoid posters. "Oh noez Jimmy Garoppolo iz wit da patriotz hez guna be da bess111!!!"

Just like Mallett was gonna be good and he's proven himself to be a good backup.

Kevin O'Connell is out of the league.

Brian Hoyer is a fringe starter. And he'll probably be a backup by the middle of the season.

Stop being paranoid every time the Pats draft a QB. Not saying Garoppolo won't be good. But cut out the paranoia.

Where are the people who said Boyd was better than Geno after the draft?

He also had stud receivers to throw the ball to in college.

Too soon. But so far Boyd looks like a semi pro QB AT BEST.

Simms was awful in 2012 as a rookie during preseason. And we've seen him develop into a competent backup since. Boyd will be on the practice squad where he'll develop for a year.

Best case scenario is Geno Smith establishes himself as the starting QB going forward. Then Simms gets bumped up to backup and if Boyd develops he can be the 3rd QB.

Not completely based on Boyd as I didn't hate the pick because again its a 6th or 7th round pick but I'm a bit sick of these "Rex" picks.

Maybe it's being nitpicky and I am a fan of Rex but he's not a talent evaluator. He doesn't spend hours watching college tape across the nation. Him sitting in the stands while Boyd throws underneath routes to Sammy Watkins doesn't make him a good prospect.

Not too soon at all. I was referring to this year Boyd. Can Boyd develop into a backup QB? Maybe. Can he overtake Geno immediately like people here said? Absolutely not. He's been terrible all camp and in his only game appearance. Maybe a PS year will help him become a #3 next year.

Yeah I don't know why anybody thought Boyd would be better than Geno this year. Basically agenda posting.

This is such bull. What agenda could anyone have against Geno succeeding? There may be some who don't think he is good enough, but I haven't read anyone who wants him to fail. Stop with the nonsense.
It's really not hard to imagine someone coming in and doing better than what Geno did for most of last year. I hope Geno wins us the SB, but if he can't I hope Vick does or Simms or Boyd or Sanchez... he on the market again. It's certainly not an agenda against anyone, it's mostly joy we have a couple of decent back-ups who could step in if need be. If Boyd doesn't show anything, I don't want him around, find someone else.

Looks like IBob was behind that false rumor, not putting his full twitter name since I hate giving him any kind of promotion. They should take away all his access to social media.

What I am saying is that our QB selection was piss poor!! As was many of our other draft selections. Of course he was ranked higher than Boyd!!!...why did we take him????We drafted Boyd on Rex's recommendation and SHOULD HAVE seriously pursued the guy who was better, who we asked for an interview, Garappolo. Our Scout department should have done a much better job as other posters have agreed they are terrible. Read the post.

There is no rhyme or reason to his posts so don't bother trying to decipher them. I thought this one was funny in the other Boyd thread, I usually temper my enthusiasm with 6th round picks.

We're talking about a 6th round pick and you're wondering why we didn't take a guy who was selected in the 2nd round instead. Never go full retard.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who would rather their predictions be correct, rather than the team be good and their predictions be incorrect.

There are at least 3 posters that are blatantly hoping he fails, and a few others that are subtly hoping he fails. Anyone that says a 6th round QB who had clear flaws is better than Geno has an agenda.

The Jets weren't drafting a QB early in this draft no matter who fell to them. Manziel and Bridgewater were both there on 18 and either of them would have been a better pick for the Jets than Garoppolo on the 49.

The Jets will decide on Geno this year and use Vick if they have to. Next year they will likely get one of the juniors in the 1st or 2nd if Geno does not work out. The juniors are now the favored picks because every year the best juniors seem to come out and avoid being a good senior.

One huge factor is that Geno is the Jets best shot at a Super Bowl win next year. Rookies do not get to the Super Bowl let alone win it and there are no obvious vets to come in and backbone the team at this point. Vick is a decent QB but he is too streaky and too injury prone to take the Jets to the Super Bowl in my opinion.
