What I'm saying is Hill shouldn't have been a second round pick to begin with. Many could have said that entering the draft this isn't hindsight. Obv you don't put a 2nd round pick on the PS lol
Why would we want to? Why waste a valuable PS spot for someone with no aptitude for his position. He has terrible hands, doesn't know when to jump, his route running, while improved, still isn't great, and he doesn't know even the most basic fundamentals of how to use his body to shield defenders from the ball. Hill sucks. His being cut was great news for the team and Idzik.
Maybe the Panthers just can't believe that someone with so much potential actually duped so many people. What I can't believe is how the Jets gave him another go. Forget the Tebow era, forget Geno the rookie, he flat out can't catch.
And Panthers did not sign him... "The Panthers have "no immediate plans" to sign free agent Stephen Hill following Monday's workout. The Panthers are simply updating their "ready list." Carolina has one of the league's thinnest receiver corps, so it's not a good sign for Hill's 2014 prospects that he's walking away without a deal"
Could be, but I doubt it. Hill has zero leverage. He sucks. He'd be lucky to get the vet minimum. If he is signed to an active roster, I believe it will only be after a team loses a WR or two and after the 1st week of the season so his salary won't be guaranteed; otherwise, he'll be luck to sign to anyone's PS. Even with upping Practice Squads to 10 players, I'm not sure any team can afford to waste one of those spots on a WR who can't catch, doesn't know how to use his body, still sucks at route running, is soft, and basically has zero instincts for the position. He can only do two things, run fast and block DBs.
I hear what you are saying, but a lot of draft "experts" had Hill as a first round pick http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...draft-full-predictions-for-rounds-1-2/page/27 I realise its Bleacher report but it was literally the first hit on a google of "2012 mock draft nfl" and it has SH going in the first round at #26 to the Texans - "Stephen Hill is exactly what the Houston Texans need opposite of Andre Johnson. The Texans have been lacking a true No. 2 wide receiver over the past few seasons and Hill could fill that void." Drafttek had this as +14 value "Seems like there's a trend of Tim Tebow throwing to GT Alumni with the Jets selection of Stephen Hill here. Hill has great straight-line speed, strong hands and is probably the top red zone threat in the draft. He'll need some time to refine his route running, but this is a high upside player who could dominate the league in a few years. Grade: A" NFL.com had SH going in the first round to the Niners - http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0900...nfl-mock-draft-teambyteam-picks-for-rounds-17 this one even had him going to the Patriots in Rd 1 http://thesidelineview.com/nfl-mock-draft-2012 Sorry these are mostly a bit random but its not easy to find 3 year mock drafts but the point is at the time almost no-one say SH as a bad draft pick and most thought we had scored a major steal.
Wide receiver and cornerback are the hardest positions to draft. I think Heyward-Bey went ninth overall and of course Mike Williams out of USC back in the day. I thought Kelvin Benjamin had a similar profile to Williams a questionable attitud but apparently he's the real deal.

IMO those mock drafts just show how clueless the "experts" can be. I saw SH play quite a bit and I wanted no part of him. He made some circus catches but dropped a lot of easy passes that should have been caught. I thought he had bad hands and thought he would be a bust. If NFL scouts couldn't see the same thing, then they don't deserve to be working as scouts imo, as I'm no "expert." Hill's bad hands were glaringly obvious to anyone who wasn't blinded by his size and speed.
