With Carr playing this week, I say sit Milliner out and let him rest up for Aaron Rodgers and company.
if theres any doubt, sit 'em full stop. Rather have him missing a game or two than re-injuring himself and missing 5 or 6 or so, regardless of who was up on the schedule. he's of no use to us if he has to hesitate or hold back anyway, I say wait till the recommended hour and he can cut with ease.
Why is there any debate on this? If he's cleared medically he plays; if he's not he doesn't. It's that simple surely? I'd sit him down if we're clear in the second half and perhaps give him some series off here and there, but you're asking for trouble looking past any opponent to the next game. Oakland may only win 2 games this year - I don't want one of them to be us.
not a bad idea and smart one - but what if we fall behind early and ultimately lose the game - they and us will roast the jets thoroughly for sitting him out.....i think limiting his snaps may be the best approach all around.
Wow, some of you are taking this thread way out of context. Do you really think what Dee said is any serious indication of whether he'll play or not? It was a really nice story and a cool thing for Dee to say to the kid, especially since he said "My dad won't buy tickets if you aren't playing", but athletes are always cocky and a bit over optimistic, and they should be. It's part of the job description. Just take it as a nice story. Honestly, I'd rather see him rest up and be ready for Green Bay. I'm confident the coaching staff will make the right decision, not Dee Milliner while he is shopping in the mall. Don't get me wrong, it's a great story, but I can't believe anybody is actually using this as a gauge for his return.
AA just got cleared to play, This may be enough to rest him for the next game. BUT if he is healthy then he is paid to do a job and he should be out there. Also getting a little nervous with Dee getting hurt all the time... Is this just me.
Yup. Rest Dee until it's vital to need him. Personally, I don't think he should play vs. GB either. There's two outcomes to the packers game. 1) Aaron Rodgers will torch us and we will lose either way with Dee or not. 2) AA or Walls breaks out in Week 1 and does just a good a job as Milliner could do. Either way...save Dee for Week 3.
I'm trying to figure out how Dee is hurt all the time?? He's only in year two and he played most of last year....Help me out here...
Lmao...can't wait to show my son! I started to record a video for proof but that would have been creepy...lol. I reiterate I'm a Jets fan not a fanatic! I appreciate their contributions to my entertainment and if I learn about their social or community service then and only then do they rise above being more than entertainers to me. If my son looked up to someone like Mike Goodson instead of me...then I have not done a good job as a father. Remember what Barkley said?
If Milliner is ready to go I don't see a point as to why he should sit. You want a player returning from an injury that barely played any preseason ball to get live game action. Obviously players can be resting if the scoreboard indicates it's okay to do so. Until then, players who are cleared to play should play. Sitting Milliner when he's cleared to play would be the coaches looking past the Raiders as a gimme game which none in the NFL are.
Who remembers Isaiah Thomas? He took over a game on one foot. Does anyone remember Curtis Martin...no cartilage in his knees. And how about Emmit Smith and his dislocated shoulder? Pain is part of the game...when did football players become soft !!! Even Cj2k played last year with a torn meniscus. C'mon men! When Cutler refused to play hurt he got ripped! Tomorrow is not guaranteed especially in football. If he can play he should play.
we drafted him hurt, he missed camp last year bc he was hurt, he got hurt for a game or 2 i believe last year, and he's hurt now. But i dont think he gets hurt too often either ^_^
And if healthy who knows witch Millners going to show up,missing all of the preseason def wasn't good for this kid.He made some strides late in the season but let's not forget he got benched twice and burned more times then a crackhead falling asleep with a lit cigarette
While I do agree that players should play if they're able to play, if their injury hinders their performance then they're in turn hurting the team. Jay Cutler and John Abraham in I wanna say 2004 come to mind. A speed rusher with lower body injuries along with a quarterback that has an injured knee can render them completely ineffective. Then again I guess you can say you'll never know unless you try. Those are two injuries cited in the playoffs though where players should most likely run out there and at least make teams game plan for them. This is of course different but if he's 100% and pain free then he should play no questions asked.
He got burnt early on. He was a rookie and missed a lot of training camp, so it's logical that he would struggle early. But his confidence grew throughout the year, and it was evident by watching him play. It culminated in him being the rookie of the month for last 4 weeks of the season. And he looked damn good against Indy in his short stint. I don't see how he will regress to his early form as a rookie.
I think when we drafted him he was recovering from surgery rather just hurt. He played through the injury and got it dealt with at season end. It wasn't ideal for us but the correct way to do things. I don't remember him missing game time last year because he was hurt, though he was benched so often early that I may just have missed it. It's time to worry when injuries are recurring or slow you down.
You miss my point. I was not saying Milliner should not play. i was saying even if he does play, I do not expect a sterling performance from him. He has not been practicing and will not be 100%.
