"...Remember the Jets defense have invested a lot of equity of their defense something..." http://www.raiderfans.net/forum/oak...ested-lot-equity-their-defense-something.html
Only read the first page, but so far I'm not sure what exactly everyone is buttmad about here, seems to they are all saying we have sick D because we put together a solid string of defensive draft picks, what's the beef?
I dont understand what the fuck you guys are talking about. Almost every person on the first page says we are a good defensive team and that Rex is a defensive guru. What are you guys reading?
Someone in their made a good point about the Jet's mistakes / turnovers. - Woodson did make an amazing read and play on the football on the interception. I would bet that the vast majority of corners in the NFL don't read that play the way he did and it is just one more completion for Geno. - The Raiders did hit Geno really hard on the fumble and forced the ball out. After watching it again, I really don't think he was being loose with the ball, the Raiders just punched it out. Still fucking baffles me that we have one of the best 3 Big Bruiser type RB's in the NFL (Ivory) and they didn't just run the football there. THAT'S WHY HE'S HERE. Only RB in the NFL with 2 TD's last week was Lynch. Ivory should be right there with him.
My point is that not all turnovers are mistakes by the offense, they can be great plays by the defense. It happens.
LOL. One of the dude's over there was talking about how we built the defense and put that we drafted Laron Landry in the 1st. WTF!
Just read their thread and for once, it looks like we're getting props from their fanbase. I didn't read anyone blasting the Jets. On the contrary, they seem to be envious of how our defense was put together. Not sure where the butthurt here is coming from. We get props and folks still get mad? SMH
Yea, that made me laugh too. Rex wasn't even a part of the organization the year Gholston was drafted. He signed on the next year.
Those threads kinda happens cuz most people follow other teams by what they read in the media. And all we hear is that our cbs are slow as offensive lineman and how geno looks like Jamarcus Russel i dont blame them tho i usually follow the other teams via the media as well, problem is when the game starts they see a totally difrent team not saying we are elite but they expect a bunch of scrubs and they are in for a close game likely if they are a good team that causes panic in them especially at the beggining of the season.
One more thing of note over there. One of them was giving Geno props as a good draft pick after us having missing on Sanchez. So, at least there are a few non homer Jets fans out there that like Geno.
I don't get it either. Outside of the Gholston/Landry being a Rex draft mistake it was overall positive bordering on envious. Even when some based the Jets' defensive prowess on the fact that they've dedicated early picks on that side of the ball, others were quick to point out "at least they (Rex) 'hit' on their early picks." In addition, I wish that someone would've pointed out to them that not only did Rex not pick Gholston but that he also advised Mangini not to grab him as well, that the Ghost struck Rex as a phony (as Rex mentioned in his book).
They just don't really know what they are talking about. Referring to Gholston as a Rex pick, acting like Calvin Pace was one of our first rounders, thinking Dawan Landry is LaRon Landry... And of course assuming Rex is the one drafting these players. I'm glad they have respect for our defense but they don't seem to know jack about how it's put together.
While I've only gone through the first three pages or so, it all reads like good stuff. Sure, some posters are not the most well-informed (some, just factually incorrect), but no fanbase is perfect. Either way, sounds like the Jets' play earned them respect. Can't beat that.
Yes.. I suspect that last week's play-calling was set up to give opposing DC's an idea of what we had in our arsenal, so that they would have to spend time preparing for it each week. That is something that over the years that Rex has seemed to think is important. I will reserve criticism of last week's play calling until I see whether Johnson and especially IVORY pound a very suspect Packer run-D.
