While you guys are off debating a quarterback switch that has a 0% chance of happening at this point, I'll bring up a topic that actually has relevance to the outcome of this week's game. I'll do it in the NFL forum though since it's technically another team. According to ESPN's Lions reporter, Michael Rothstein, Megatron missed his 2nd straight practice today and his status is "uncertain" for Sunday's game. He points out that it's uncommon for him to miss practice in a week in which he plans to play, and also says that Jim Caldwell doesn't like to give days off to veterans in practice unless there's a concerning injury in question. Even if he's able to get out there, there's no telling how effective he will be. People will retort: "Even Calvin Johnson at 50% can torch our crap secondary!!!" Calvin Johnson is a special talent, and him at anything less than full strength isn't even comparable to him at 100%. Note: people said that a half strength Brandon Marshall would torch us, yet he played no factor in the game. If Johnson is unable to suit up altogether, we can turn the Lions into a 1-dimensional offense in which their 1-dimension is mediocre at best. They have added some new toys this year, mainly Tate, but Ebron doesn't figure to play a huge role as he tries to pick up the playbook. This offense is a shell of itself without Calvin and I'd say our win probability with him healthy is around 45%, 50% at half strength and near 60% if he's not out there (yeah, those numbers are extremely arbitrary, deal with it). Hence, all Calvin Johnson injury updates and discussion here.
Good post, but it would be better in the Jets forum considering the game we have this week. I'll be surprised if he doesn't play, but one can always hope.
Lol. I kinda feel bad for the kid, he gets on the field for 2 snaps all year and on the second one he busts a coverage and gives up a TD.
