I'm not gonna bash Idzik for the 12 picks. You are never gonna bat 1.000 w/ draft picks. It's largely a crapshoot. Take the best guy 12 times & let the chips fall where they may. If you acquire enough picks you will eventually strike gold..just have to keep at it. Where I am upset is the continued failure at the wide receiver position. This team just cannot seem to get its passing game figured out. It's been literally over 10 years since we fielded a legit passing attack that could perform both at home AND on the road that featured all types of big plays. Jalen Saunders was drafted to be a play maker. All offseason the consensus was the Jets needed offensive play makers more than anything else. There were a wealth of options at every one of the Jets first 3 picks..they passed every time. They wait till the 4th round & nab this guy as if they had him targeted all along. Now he's not even on the team?? I'm sick & tired of this franchise continuing to shun true dynamic offense & settling for a good not great defense.
You're talking about marginal players with the exception of McDougle, not to mention two of them are out the entire year. They barely get any run as it is so there's nothing to indicate that changing much in the future. You need impact guys especially in rounds 1-4 from the draft. The Jets had a ton of picks in those rounds and right now only Amaro is producing and some moments out of Pryor.
Do you really think Idzik has done more bad for this team then good? He got us out of cap hell while still fielding a competitive team. We have a ton of young talent that he had a hand in drafting. We are in year 2 of his reign and he inherited a total steaming dump of a roster. Things aren't moving as quickly as we want as fans but whats the other option, throw in the towel b/c we've had a bad stretch in the first quarter of the season? When you have a young quarterback you have to stick by him and his growing pains. Worst case, if this season ends up being wasted or lost we draft a quarterback in the first round next year - by all accounts we would have a high draft pick that would get us a top prospect. CHILL people.
So there are 2 late round rookies that havent gotten much burn through 4 games. Thats fairly common in the NFL. You think that because they havent played much this, that indicates they wont play much in their careers? Or just this year?
I was dying to get Benjamin on this team, and if we had, we probably wouldn't be 1 for 100 in the fucking Red Zone!
This is about how Idzik's draft choices are panning out to this moment. You're wanting to speculate on the possibility of how long these late round rookies NFL careers will be. Saunders was a valuable 4th round pick who was cut. That's a big miss on Idzik. What about his 3rd and other 4th rounder that are out for the entire year? This class isn't making a big impact on the field so far and won't be much this year.
I just asked a simple question. I wanted to know if you thought not playing these 4 games indicated they wouldnt get any burn in their career.
Gotcha. In their cases I don't think it's the ultimate indicator whether or not they'll get any serious burn in their careers because 6th and 7th round picks are the biggest crapshoots to begin with. If it was a higher round player (1-4) then I would say it's an indication that they probably won't get much burn or be a consistent starter in their careers. But again only 4 games so have to keep that in context.
First Nelson now Graham. Looks like we are trying to recreate the Bills disbanded WR corps. All we need now is to trade for Stevie Johnson and convince Lee Evans out of retirement. Bring the gang back to together Idzik!
