I think WCO ( and specifically MM's ) has a lot to it when it comes to formations and shifts and what not, specially in the run game.
stupid. they don't need a fuckin fullback. it's especially useless if he can't catch a cold like conner.
Only thing that worries me is Bohanon seemed to be a competent pass catcher as a safety valve, Conner has stone hands. If I see MM set up a play where COnner ends up getting the ball...oy...
so he can take up space on the field?? I suppose they do have to put 11 guys out there on a given play. I'd like to find use out of all 11 but I guess they want to have a filler position.
from Jetsblog: Conner struggled as a run blocker at times for the Jets, most notably under OC Tony Sparano, but he was the league’s third best blocker a season ago with the Giants. but let's not let facts get in the way here...
it's a marginal lateral move, and i'm ok with it considering the injury. Bohanon was nothing special at all. Conner is a better lead blocker and can play special teams (which Bohanon did not). the downside is he does not know this offense (learning curve), and is not a good receiving option at all. As long as he can pick up the pass blocking assignments, it can be a good move.
Bohanon was rated literally the worst run blocking FB in the league last year. Yeah he had good hands, but he was a shitty lead blocker. Connor may not catch very well, but he can definitely light somebody up. I don't think anybody wants to take on Connor AND THEN Ivory. That's wearing a defense down.
Too bad we can't combine Conner's blocking and Bohannon pass catching ability to create our ideal WCO FB. I guess such a player does not exist.
