    - hindsight is 20/20: So many people are ripping Idzik for his drafts now, but the thing is, almost everyone was mostly happy when those drafts happened. Jets got positive grades for both drafts from the "experts" and most of us were happy as well. People might have had an issue with a pick here or there, but mostly they were solid picks. Yeah Milliner had those surgeries in college, but he was the highest rated CB that year, and people were surprised he was still available by the time we picked. For a Rex Ryan coached team, he was a pick that made a lot of sense. Obviously we hit gold with the Richardson pick. Say what you will about Geno in college, and how he fell on draft day, but the thing is, we were a team without a quarterback that draft, and to pick a prospect that was widely regarded as a first round talent in the 2nd round was a no brainer. Idzik had to do it, and any one of us would've done the same thing. Pryor was another lauded pick. The guy might not work out in the NFL or as a free safety, but when we picked him, everyone said it was a great pick. So were Amaro, Dozier, Reilly, George, etc. Now the thing is, anyone who is involved with the NFL draft will tell you, it's a crapshoot, based on chance to a very large degree. So lady luck went against us (or at least that's how it looks right now), but now many of you are acting like they were terrible picks, when a few months ago, you were ready to kiss Idzik's ass. I think this is very dishonest. Anyone can act like a genius when you know the outcome, but to actually do it is much harder. I used to think that the Patriots had a world class drafting organization, but apparently now Pats fans are all angry about how shitty their drafts have been recently too. That sort of thing happens, every team is not gonna strike gold like Seattle did in recent years. Of course the NFL is a results driven league, so if Idzik has 3-4 really bad drafts, he will be fired probably, but for now, wait a little and see if things even out for him. He's not drafting kickers in the 2nd round, he's not drafting non-football players with great combine numbers, he's making good decisions that people like at the time, but that just haven't worked out for him so far in a lot of cases.

    - this BS argument that Idzik is a bean counter, accountant, etc and we need someone with a football background: he began his football career as an assistant coach in college, and worked various position coaching gigs including one at Duke, and his father was a coach in the NFL and CFL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Idzik,_Jr.). He played wide receiver in college. So he's not some nerd that has no clue about football, quite the opposite.

    - the irrational demand to win at all costs now and then disappointment that we never get to the Superbowl: you guys gotta realize that those 2 goals are opposite of each other. If you spend your entire cap on average to decent players, bring in aging QBs like Favre, go on pointless late season winning streaks when already out of playoffs, yeah you might make a season or two more interesting, but after you get bounced, you are back to nowhere. Sometimes it's better to suck outright for a while, so at least you can build up your talent with high picks, than to be a "fake" contender.

    The truth of the matter is that most fans don't know jack shit about most prospects and how they will translate into the NFL. They see and hear about the top 30 or so guys, and the rest of the guys they literally assume the front office, whose job it is to scout players, knows what they are doing. So when a Jace Amaro is drafted, most people will say they like the pick because you can find positives about all players, and they assume Idzik knows what the hell he is doing. However, when they see guys on the field and see that they suck (i.e., Geno), they get frustrated, and rightly so.

    Here we go with the "fans" bullshit.

    Have you considered maybe whoever is supposed to get these players ready to play the game, may be at fault?
    Is it the fans fault, our two biggest needs going into the draft were not addressed? Was McDougle going to be our savior this season? Is he all that we're missing?
    Do any of those receivers look a game or two away from breaking out...Have any of them seen the field?

    We rotated the bottom end of our roster, that's about it.

    Fans want to see their teams win. I went to the giants game because I got free tickets and you could feel the energy there when they scored. They've also had two superbowls. They also had Beckham Jr and Andre Williams contribute.

    I probably did at least 75 mock drafts this past year. And I hadn't heard about basically anyone besides the first two picks and Dozier prior to the draft. When Idzik made those picks, the OP can go back and see the responses on the board. People were definitely scratching their heads. And yes, you want to find the positives because these are young guys joining the Jets. And yes, we trusted Idzik especially after drafting ROY. But it's frustrating to complain about the same positions today that we were complaining about in February and April. It's tough to get blown out. It sucks to be have glaring deficiencies on the roster. It sucks to wait all summer for football to have your team looking down the 1-6 barrel.

    And it sucks to see your draft picks cut or on other rosters. It sucks to see Winters singlehandedly cost us turnover after turnover. Why doesn't Idzik do any interviews and explain himself?

    I started a couple threads in the Draft forum during and immediately after the draft about being less than thrilled with our draft and got ripped by some for it. So no hindsight here.

    Get used to people bitching nonsensically. People are pissed because Amaro is posting big numbers after 5 games total and learning a brand new system, which is stupid. People are bitching about McDougle being injury prone and that's why he tore his ACL, even though he didn't have knee issues in the past. People are bitching about Milliner, but he played great today, and clearly benefitted from more rest.

    Granted Fullbacks aren't the most impactful players, but for a 7th rounder he has been tremendous value.

    Trevor Reilly, another 7th rounder has been an intriguing prospect.

    McDougle looked great in camp, and yeah it sucks that we don't know what we have in him going into next season but he could prove to be a good player.

    There's so much about these drafts we don't know yet, and may never know.

    Everyone is down on the Saunders pick, but if you were driving and crashed your car because you had a seizure, you might be a little effected. You might be even more affected if you had suspicion that your seizure had something to do with what you do for a living. This all happened after the draft, so there's a good chance it messed with his confidence and focus.

    As a 6th rounder, Enemkpali may turn out to be a very solid rotational pass rusher yet.

    We have no idea what we have in Shaq Evans either.

    Just relax people. Maybe Idzik does suck at drafting, but even if he does there's no way we know at this point.

    I'd say that most of the fans who still knew the guys coming off the board in the mid and later rounds were pretty underwhelmed and disappointed by our last two drafts.

    Anybody involved in the draft who calls it a crapshoot is making an excuse for their incompetence.

    In a retrospect, last year's record of 8-8 was an aberration. Points differential certainly dictated 4-12 record; so did turnover differential - and somehow Jets lucked out with 8-8. Doesn't mean this is not a 4-12 team. And what we are seeing this year is, simply what we should have been seeing from a year ago and on.

    Jets have a problem all over the place, starting with position coaches. The only time I could recall Jets playing with any 'identity' was back in 2009 and 2010. Now, this team lacks identity. Ever since the magical 2 year run, Jets systematically dismantled their OL unit one by one without replacing the talent. You know, it takes a while to get the OL to function as a unit. Last draft was the first substantial draft with multiple OL picks - which means, you should expect more growing pains from the OL first and foremost. Add aging Mangold and Brick - and now you have a full blown OL problem. Since Jets OL coach is a tepid sack of shit, that certainly doesn't help the situation one bit.

    ===================================================================================

    Jets DL is now the main strength of the defense, as they invested majority of the top pick in the defensive trench. After that, Milliner and Pryor are emerging, but this defense has a long way to go as well. Like I said, last year was an aberration, not a norm. This defense is not creating enough turnovers. That is on the LBs and secondaries. By the way, Jets defense is very underwhelming after the first wave of fearsome front line. They must fix up the LB coach first and then address the talent issue.

    ===================================================================================

    Should Rex go? I don't know about that. Maybe. All I want to say is, last year's 8-8 was more of a fluke - and if Rex gets a nod based on a fluke, then that's a problem. Ever since he took over in 2009, the talent level has deteriorated year after year, and you have to question what Rex was doing while this was happening. T-Bomb certainly didn't help but Rex should share the blame as well. Does this offense scare anyone? How about this LB corp? Does anyone in the LB corp keep the opposing OCs up late at night?

    ===================================================================================

    The easy answer is, obviously, firing Rex. That's for sure. What's not clear is - who is going to replace him? And what level of success do we expect out of him in the first 4-5 years? That has to be crystal clear.

    Aging players like chris johnson..players like dimitri patterson mike goodson ...sorry man he could of signed solid free agents this past offseason and still be under the cap (we have the second lowest payroll in the nfl by the way) to improve our team he jus literally didnt do anything thats what bothers me...and in the nfl u only have that short time frame to make something happen unless u have a manning or brady type qb...the season before rex we sucked then made it to the afc title game 2 years in row did we go through a "rebuilding" years..no
