Say what you want about McKnight, but he certainly made some big plays for us. He and Brad Smith are the only true explosive players we've had on this roster in years. A damn shame mcKnight could never get his act together.

I didn't say "twerp", that was Westoff.

    I always like a Joe.
He got a bad wrap IMHO about the vomiting.

I think Brad Smith was one guy we never should have allowed to walk. He made the offense better even if was used as a decoy on multiple occasions. He was the only guy we had that could constantly run trick plays and actually make them work as he was multi talented. He single handily won that game against the Bengals on Thanksgiving. When he walked they should have scraped this whole Wildcat nonsense.

Westhoff should've been given a shot at HC, plus he resembles Joe Namath to boot

I see a trend here. We need to stop drafting Irish players.

+1000 on Brad. He was also excellent on specials. Sanu, who has a similar skill set went in the 3rd round after we drafted steven hill in the 2nd(ouch) Does our scouting department know where rutgers is located?

You know your franchise is pitiful when some are saying Joe McKnight is one of the most explosive players during the Rex Ryan era. The guy was a total scrub who barely made an impact, always injured, and they even tried him out on defense. Talk about setting the bar low. Very sad commentary on this organization.

Now I hate Sapp (now. Did not know what a douche he was back then), but that pick had to be the worst number one I ever saw. I mean Blair Thomas sucked, but everybody thought he would be good. Brady and oh yes, Gholston. Wow. When you think about it, there have been a tone of bad first round picks

McDougle is another example of Rex Ryan's love for DBs. Idzik is supposed to be GM, but Rex convinces him to take Millner, Pryor and McDougle (all DBs) with three high picks 2 years in a row. I hope I'm wrong, but none look very special at this point. You continually try to justify that McDougle pick. McDougle was injured in high school, twice in college, and played only one and a half GAMES his senior year of colege. The jets blow a 3rd round pick on this injured nobody when so many other good guys were still available. And then, SURPRISE, McDougle, who already HAS a lengthy injury history, gets hurt in camp and is out for the season. I guess you and I can disagree, but I agree with Mike Westhoff that McDougle was a huge reach and a wasted pick. But Walt, keep trying to convince yourself that McDougle WAS a good pick in the 3rd round---eventually you'll believe it. (FIRE REX NOW).

given the state of our safeties and cornerbacks you don't think it was a good idea to go after those positions in the draft? you can complain about the quality of the players drafted but its a bit bizarre to try and argue that they weren't/aren't positions of need.

"Quite honestly there's a reason we kept him [McKnight] instead of Danny Woodhead," Ryan said. "Danny Woodhead's a great back and done great things in New England, but this guy's ceiling is about as high as it gets."

The day the jets drafted Millner I posted on this message board that he was terrible pick because he had FIVE surgeries prior to stepping on NFL field. Guess what--he has been injured for most of his jet career. As for McDougle, I posted that there were ONLY TEN cornerbacks with higher draft ratings still on the board when the jets reached for McDougle-- Guess I was right on that too. I have posted this before and I still believe it--HALF THE PEOPLE ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD COULD DO A BETTER JOB THAN THE JETS AT DRAFTING PLAYERS. In my opinion the jets, and especially Rex Ryan who is clueless on talent, talk themselves into guys like Coples. Millner, McDougle, Shonn Green , (and before Rex guys like Kyle Brady, Ken O'Brien, Roger Vick, Lam Jones, the list is endless) and draft them instead of more NFL ready/healthier players. Just this summer I heard Rex at a briefing crowing on and on about how good Clyde Gates (of all people) looked this summer and how he was "all the way" from surgery. You didn't see anyone rush to pick up Gates when Rex finally had to cut him, did you? Rex is nothing but a glorified cheerleader, and if you doubt what I say just check the jets record this year.

Always liked Westhoff, he was the man and has twice the balls Rex does. Of course since Idzik came here Rex hasn't shown he even has any.
