Belichik wouldn't have lasted in NYC as a head coach. He'd have gotten the "no news is bad news" treatment from the media and been forced out eventually. He wouldn't even have survived the first year 5-11 he went through with the Patriots.
The NFL is behind other sports because the people that run it are inbred as a West Virginia thanksgiving. They're not looking to bring in new blood.

I can't believe how many ungrateful bastards refuse to give Parcells credit for turning this team around just because he couldn't drag this team kicking and screaming to a Superbowl. Nothing we accomplished in the last 17 years happens without him. I think you are forgetting that Parcells also went to the Superbowl with Drew Bledsoe as his starting QB. He also inherited a team that was so bad it had the #1 overall pick two years in a row and took it to 8-8 in year one. Give the man same credit.
I hope everyone is happy today, you got your wish. Both Idzik and Rex are fired. I hope someone advises the new gm that the ny jets fanbase are very impatient and very demanding. They couldn't even sit through a 2 year rebuild, how will they handle another 2 or 3 year rebuild. I hope someone tells him that he has to spend all of our cap money on aging FAs, make sure he drafts a superstar with every draft pick. Make sure he builds a team to win a superbowl this season or else the fans will be calling for his firing after next season. For the new HC, I hope someone tells him he has to develop a hall of fame QB next season. He has to also develop a great offense. I mean who needs a running game or a defense. His offense also has to score 100 points per game, afterall how can you not score 100 in an offense driven league. Some of us have been waiting more than forty years for a Superbowl. I think we are the definition of patience. A rebuild implies tearing down and building something even better. The bottomless pit that was the Idzick regime failed to show anything representing improvement. It is hard to say that a plan failed when it is not apparent that there was a plan in the first place. Failing to plan is planning to fail. As for Rex, we understood that the offense would be limited when we used draft pick after draft pick to build his defense. When his defense was not the awe inspiring vision of genius but another gaping black hole of suckitude it became clear that the man was in over his head.
Yes, fair points. Still a speculation given if "the media" would be able to force a first year coach out. Rex and Idzik are out for poor performances over a period of 4 or 5 years. Kraft was smart to see BBs talent as a future HOF Coach. This is why our organization sucks. No brain trust to make a good decisions. Because of that ineptitude we miss opportunities .....in other words poor business decisions ruin your business not The Daily News.
Agreed. He's a great HC but I truly believe that it wouldnt have worked with the Jets. Not with this media who loves to stir up this fan base into a frenzy.

Not sure we are talking about the same person. I refer to the NFL coach Bill Parcells who won SB XXI and XXV , Won the NFC CHampionship in 86 and 90 and an AFC Championship in 96. Please check out Ryan's career accomplishments versus that resume. Apples vs. Oranges. I am confident too, especially in Wikepedia to get my facts straight.
Here's realistic for you: our scouts suck. I would imagine that getting in a group of guys to work off the notes they've already made, and study some film (since very few of these players will play again between now and then), then scout the combine and conduct interviews, will suffice. I know that's unconventional and probably detrimental, but since Woody is looking for people with scouting backgrounds, one would imagine they'd have some insight as well.
Yup, just like the over the hill ones we gained when we hired him. And us looking different on the sidelines isn't necessarily a bad thing. Maybe we'll have some cohesion and football smarts.
Great point. Most people here can't separate the job he did from the fact that, in football circles, he DID get a raw deal. He had a coach forced on him, he spent a year or more gutting the building and laying the groundwork, and got fired basically when he was in diapers (to use a lifetime sorta of comparison). That said, if all the other things said about him are true, then he needed to go. But that doesn't change the fact that he never got a chance to do what he wanted to do.
You'll be singing a different tune when Harris, Mo and Sheldon are all playing for the Falcons in two years under Rex.
