It's one thing not agreeing with the hire but to blatantly sit here and bash him for his work in Arizona and what he produced with that defense is absurd. He won the Assistant Coach of the Year award. There is always at least one
But they can't give a single good reason why other than speculation and anecdotes. And LMFAO that "you don't just get hired to be a head football coach". It happens every fucking year. Cronyism, relationship with the GM or owner, hiring guys based on who you think they will be rather than who they are; you think Lane Kiffin was qualified? How about Raheem Morris? McDaniels, Pettine, Bradley, the new clown for the 9ers, Adam Gase......these guys all have no business being hired. But owners think they can predict the future without having any supporting data from the past or present. And when they fuck it up, they just hire the next guy while we pay the price.
Again I see a lot of people coming on here talking about how I'm being negative. About how Bowles won some award for his one season out of 2 as a coordinator. What I'm not seeing is any legit evidence this man should be the coach of the Jets given where we are as a franchise.
Other than anecdotes or his personality, how the fuck is 2 total years as a coordinator an example of being qualified to run a team?????
He doesn't have any. That's your answer. Now that you have your answer can you move on and get the fuck out of here? What's the point of this thread? To convince us that it was a bad hire? What's the point of all of this?
Darnell Dockett for the season in August. John Abraham for the season in September. Daryl Washington was suspended for the season.
This comes under the category "too stupid to reply to." Because it's so obvious. All great head coaches like Lombardi and Tom Landry were assistants and coordinators and had no head coaching track record going into their first head coaching job. So you don't know if they're going to be good. And that includes the great Rex Ryan. You can say with this logic that nobody is qualified unless they had previous success as a HC. Bowles was a good player, respected and called D signals when he played for the Redskins. He has over 20 years as an NFL assistant coach and was interim HC of the Fins and a Coordinator. He's qualified.
Thank you. He doesn't have any. It's all speculation and wishful thinking on the part of a desperate fan base. When it was Mangini, we need a coach with life. When it was Rex, we need a coach who is quiet. As if these things have any bearing on football success. Todd Bowles has no qualifications. Now you may chose to sip the koolaid about him b/c an ancient Bill Parcells made some nice general comments, but this guy is as likely to succeed here as Groh, Herm, Mangini, or Rex......in other words, not likely. Rinse and repeat.
LMFAO first of all you are seriously comparing championship coordinators with 5 years experience back in the 1950's with a guy with a decent defense, no rings as a coordinator, with 2 years experience. And I just cannnnnnot even begin to tell you how silly it sounds that his being an interim HC for 3 games means he's qualified. HAHHAHA jesus some fans are so desperate to believe. All you same people were jerking off to Idzik and Geno too. Wake up.
But what your point? I can name you quite a few head coaches that had no experience whatsoever when they were hired. Don Shula had never coached an NFL down of football in his life when he was named head coach. Vince Lombardi was an offensive coordinator previous to his first coaching job.
You're saying he has "no" qualifications to be a head coach. John Harbaugh was a special teams coach with no rings and he was chosen by Ozzie over Rex. Pretty smart don't you think.
Who was your guy? Josh McDaniels? Seems to me like he's the only one who might meet your criteria who was available, unless you have some way of channeling Vince Lombardi from the dead. What would you have preferred?
2 new head coaches Bowles and Tomsula are first time head coaches. But guys who have coached in the NFL for many years and impressed players and fellow coaches and front office personnel. Bowles was a player which is to his advantage. As for being interim at Miami and even beating the Jets and Rex one game in 2011. It's 3 games of head coaching experience. And a credit to Bowles because they could have chosen from 12 other guys. They thought he was up to the job and he was: they were 2-1 for those 3 games.
Can we put up a billboard to get c rid if this fuking guy from the fan base It's fuking football deal with it and hope for the best
Right because noone has any qualifications for a HC. They are either a fresh coordinator, Washed up has been coach, Some pipedream of gruden stepping down from ESPN
So if I follow this logic. Unless one is born a HC, and a winning HC at that, no one merits to become a HC from an assistant position. So basically when this crop of winning HCs die or retire, there will be no more HCs....because no coordinator could become a HC without prior HC experience, and no one comes out of the womb as a natural HC. Now I'm worried. I wonder how this logic could apply to become president of the US. Damned, I think we have bigger problems than the Jets. Leadership is becoming extinct.
