The poll is not very forgiving, it's hard to give a definitive answer considering there are aspects of it that I like and some that I don't necessarily agree with.
I agree especially on the free agency. If we do great on the fa market we make the play offs. If we do OK we improve. If we f-ck it up and w/GeNO as the qb?? I don't want to even think about it..
I don't know much about the offensive tackle you're suggesting we draft in the 5th but I would think this franchise is going to stop with these developmental offensive lineman Along with a crappy backup right tackle. I'm not suggesting we sacrifice drafting Mariota for one but the offensive line needs to be addressed more heavily than a couple of stopgaps and players we pray can start in 3 years.
I'm glad you went for it and did a great job IMO. I would tweek a few things: Douz has to go.. His productivity isn't there and his motor isn't good enough. Jarrett as a starting FS is interesting but not probable.. I see them addressing that in the FA market or in the draft. Harris is gone IMO we will need to fill that hole in a big way! Our DC was also the LB coach with the cards. If Mariota isn't there at 6 I could see them take fowler jr. I like your mock a lot though! Well thought out.
From hearing input I feel like if I replaced Oher with Franklin and signed a Vet QB you would like it lol
I really do have high hopes for Jarrett though he shined in a shitty defense. With Bowles coaching him (both former temple players) I could see Jarrett being a good player for us
and my reasoning behind oher is this: 1. I really like Giacomini inside 2. the top RT's hitting the market are: Free - getting up there in age Bulaga - I think he is going back to GB I already had my mock draft in place so that's why I took oher
Stop. Vote = Yea! Good job. Gonna be interesting to see the new regimes choices of the guys on the roster now, how they're used, and the moves they make in relation to it.
Yup, Iupati or Franklin instead of Oher, Add Fitzpatrick, stick Kareem Jackson\Maxwell and McCourty in there and you're golden
Franklin is a better pass blocker than Iupati. Iupati's a very strong run blocker, but not so great as a pass blocker. Franklin would be a better choice and fit.
No he shouldn't. He's going to be very expensive and isn't that great of a pass blocker. Franklin is better imo.
I have to disagree regarding Jarrett. I like Jarrett. He's a nice player, but doesn't have the speed to be a real center fielder FS. He needs to be depth.
I would rather take Kevin White in the first over Mariota, and if White is not available possibly trade back and try and accrue 2 first rounders. I've watched more of Mariota on film and I don't think he's worth the sixth overall. He has potential, but due to his system he doesn't really ever have to deal with a pass-rush in a pro style pocket while making reads. While he may have a better head on his shoulders than Geno, and he displayed good footwork at the combine, none of those change the fact that I haven't seen what me confident in using a top 10 pick on him. Look at it this way, Geno is a pretty comparable, good arm, good athleticism, and great tape and understanding of the spread system he ran at college. Geno had a couple minor attitude questions and Mariota has slightly better athleticism, but he has the same primary questions as Geno about making that transition. I've seen Mariota react negatively to pressure on occasion from the film this past year, so I'd be extremely hesitant to spend the 6th overall pick on him. I've been sold on Kevin White since well before the combine, and I would absolutely trade up for him if the price was doable. I'd add Iupati, Cro, Kareem Jackson, Matt Moore, and an OLB pass rusher while keeping Harris and Harvin. I'd be interested in bringing back Powell as well. Then add Kevin White in the first round, and we have the makings of a real team. Bolster the offensive line, the defensive secondary, and give whoever starts at QB a slew of dynamic weapons. I say keep Harvin at his price just for this year, then we can cut him next year for no penalty after Kevin White has had a year to develop. If we restructure Harvin, we'd probably have to guarantee him a couple years. I'd rather pay $2 million extra for one year to maintain no commitment.
