When the Texans gave up 30+ points They were 0-4 with Fitzpatrick at QB. When they held the opponent to less than 30 points they were 6-1. I'll take that over what we've had recently.

For comparison, over the last three seasons the Jets were 0-12 when they gave up 30+ points. When they held the opponent to less than 30 they were 18-18.

I'm not arguing that Fitzpatrick is a long-term solution or that he's a particularly good QB. I'm arguing that he's much better than what we've put on the field recently and likely the best option for next season.

Really would've loved to sign Ryan Mallett but considering the Texans traded for him you knew they were going to make it a priority to keep him. I am perfectly fine with Ryan Fitz being the stopgap for a year. He's one of the few that I think could easily beat out Geno.

Bradford scares me to death because he is always injured and that is fact not speculation. He comes in and gets hurt and Geno is the man again.
Foles would cost draft picks and I watched enough of his games the last couple years that I don't think he is the answer. You bring in Foles and you forget about drafting a QB which I feel like is our best option at a franchise QB which Foles is not.

Me too. He's the best we can make of this situation--we can make the playoffs with him.

Excellent post, that speaks volumes. Get Fitz on a team with a good D and you atleast have a chance to be in every game.

You don't want Fitzpatrick on opening day. Not to say Geno is a satisfying choice but Fitzpatrick lacks Geno's physical talent and has a tendency to turn the ball over.

He's not good, the only thing working for him is being familiar with Chan Gailey and since he signed that big contract extension in Buffalo, he was putrid under Gailey. He's a fine no.3, if we pay him as such, then okay.

If the Jets could get Foles for a 4th rounder it wouldn't be a bad deal. I think early 3rd rounder is iffy.

Having Geno is a good thing because of Bradfords injury history. If he weren't, then they shouldn't even keep him on the roster.

What other choice do we have at this point?

Fitzpatrick is ok. He makes a lot of really poor decisions. The good part is his familiarity in working with Gailey.

At this point, he's probably the best of what's left out there. I'm still surprised that Matt Moore never has had a real shot to be a starting QB in this league.

Moore could have but he strangely resigned with Miami 2 seasons ago. Still boggles my mind why he did that, I guess he wasn't sure about the contract he would get.

If you thought the odds were pretty good you'd be riding the bench most of the time where would you want to play? Miami or anywhere else on earth?

Edit: he probably didn't get any offers from the SoCal NFL teams. He lives in the LA suburbs and went to school in the area. Miami is a nice place to spend the winter given that he's going to be on the sidelines most of the time anyway.

Just kind of shows a defeatist attitude by Moore but he might be one of those veterans who values decent money over a chance to start. Sorta hurts his stock though, which is why he isn't getting much public hype.

Moore had some steam heading into free agency and just opted not to be apart of it, just bizarre. Tannehill was coming off his rookie season too, it wasn't like Tannehill was going to be out the door.

He's never won a big game in his career, he's an Orton type. will look good in meaningless games but you cannot count on him to step up in bigger games. do we want to win or just get better #s from our QB?

Fitzpatrick has gotten better each year, and with Marshall, Decker, Kerley and Amaro, I can see him throwing 65% completion percentage and having a 95+ qb rating for us. Imagine actually having an offense, with our d-line, and a return of Revis and Cro.

"Jay Bizniss, post: 3207180, member: 12370"]Geno > Fitzpatrick...

So quick to give up on Geno.. Guy has played only 2 seasons... QB's don't start excelling until years 3-5.

    http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2015/02/what_does_former_jets_quarterback_chad_pennington.html

Two seasons is more than enough to show us what he is made of. What he has shown is that he makes the same mistakes over and over. That does not fit into a scheme of improvement or excelling. He is not too bright and obviously can't tell time either. Let's all be honest and just admit this

If you're an NFL player and the choice is between money and starting you should take the money every time, especially in mid-career.

Think how many potential concussions and knee surgeries Moore has avoided by being on the sidelines cashing a nice check every week. I'm not a Fins fans as everybody knows but I'm developing a strong respect for Moore.

Would you rather be the backup gladiator watching the other guys fight while you collect a nice check or the guys who are going to get hacked to bits in the arena?
