In my humble estimate, I believe that all of the pieces for the Jets are falling nicely as far as FA goes.

While the CB market has dried up, the top two guys I liked are still available: Culliver & Revis. And the Jets are going after both.

They are players for Iupati, who I think would excel b/t Brick & Mangold.

They solved the WR situation & Harris before FA even kicked off, and they still have boatloads of $ to resign Mo.

The veteran QB I thought best is Fitz, and it looks like he will be our guy. I don't expect or hope that Fitz beats out Geno, but I think for a veteran, a guy with an intimate knowledge of the system, who is smart, a good teammate, and can play in a pinch, Fitz is the perfect veteran QB for us.

Right now, it looks like this for our needs...

    QB: Fitzpatrick
SIGN CBs: Sign Revis [plan a] &/or Culliver / Parker [plan b] or Cromartie [plan c].
UPGRADE OLINE: Iupati [plan a & b] or hopefully Boling [plan c] from CIN (though this is just a guess & has not been reported to my knowledge)
    #1 WR: check
RB: Powell [plan a] or Spiller [plan b]
RESIGN OUR OWN: Harris (chk), Mo (?), Powell (?)

And with that, the draft is looking like BPA early is a reality. I still say Beasley (my fave) / Gregory / Rey / Fowler has to be the best plan unless they fall in love with Mariota.

And while many are counting out a WR, with Marshall's contract the way it is, I don't think it's out of the question to draft a young stud to develop and take over. (DGB?)

If we come out of this with Iupati and Revis we won. Everything else is gravy.

That being said, I love me some gravy!!

We could sign Iupati, Cro and Culliver for just a little more then Revis by himself.

Revis could cripple us if we have to overpay..which is the only way he's coming here.

We can definitely sign Revis, Iupati and Cro.

I know we can technically but is 30 mil worth it for those 3 guys?

Culliver would probably get about half of what we'd have to pay Revis.

Revis is a terrible idea from a roster/financial standpoint.

We would be much better off signing the lower tier guys (I'm comparison to Revis) than signing Revis and having so much money tied down to ONE player.

That is the types of moves that will hurt the longevity of a football team. We of all fan bases should already know this, considering the cap hell we were just in a couple years ago.

Revis was a big part of that cap hell, now fans want to do it all over again? Only this time is worse because the guy has already lost a step and he's in his 30's already.

    It doesn't make sense.

Cap hell is dead (for now anyway).

We could see a 10-12 million dollar rise every year for the next decade. By 2020 at this rate the NFL cap floor is going to look like the Yankees payroll.

For as long as we have without paying a franchise QB franchise money (which for us is at least five years barring an FA miracle) you can basically pay anyone anything they want with room to spare.

    Nothing is going well.

    This is another Idzik.

Free Agency started 2 days ago when legal tampering was allowed. Now most top free agents already have deals in place while the Jets were focusing on signing a crappy QB.

I hope McCagnan enjoys Ryan Fitzpatrick while he watches McCourty, Kareem Jackson, and Orlando Franklin dominate on their teams.

You can be upset about Franklin but that's it. The others never hit the market. Can't put that on Mac.

Jets went after Franklin and he chose San Diego. You can't make them come here.

I mean maybe you missed the news, but we went and traded for a legit, no questions asked top-teir receiver last week. It's not like Mac is sitting on his hands.

They had interest in Jackson, but he returned to his team and for a nice chunk of change. They were interested in Maxwell but he got badly overpaid. McCourty was NEVER leaving New England and took less money to stay there. Orlando Franklin went to a better situation but as the poster above me said, you can't make players come here. And on that note, they clearly have interest in Iupati but it looks like he's going to choose to play elsewhere too.

Revis may be out, NE is looking to dump Browner. I can't imagine they would let both of their corners go.

They had interest and they failed to get Franklin. They even didn't apparently didn't inquire about McCourty. And they failed at making a play at Kareem Jackson.

Good. Like I said in the other thread... you can get any combo of Culliver, Cro, Skrine and Moore for what it would cost to get Revis. I'm a-ok with this.

For the third time now, you can't make a player accept your offer. IF they even made an offer to Franklin, he declined it. And while we are talking about if's, how do you know they failed at making a play for Kareem Jackson?

How can everything be going according to plan when "the CB market has dried up" and that is our biggest need and the main reason we were 4-12 last year?

We are losing out on the cream of the free agent crop while Revis and his agent jerks us around.
