I think I would choose complete games and then separately highlight those two terrible games where he got benched
GENOCOASTER! Im happy we've got serious alternatives to the guy about as much as I'm okay with him sitting on top of the depth chart for now. he's got one more reprieve via a new O and a complete set of weapons, the crossroads between a career as a backup and even having a chance of being an answer has arrived. trust is limited, the odds have never been more against him. I hope he kicks ass. I hope he AND Petty kick ass. I hope we've got a debate over extending him or rolling with Petty from 2016 on. as is these "good" games are looking few and far between.
If you're looking for a positive in this post, I think it would be that out of the 6 best games listed, only one was in his first year and of his 6 worst games, only one was in his second year. So, while it has been very minimal, he has improved. Hopefully with having a better supporting cast and an OC that just might tailor the offense to match his strong suits, you will see a half decent Geno Smith this year.
Another Geno thread awesome, he's had 3 good games 2 in Miami and one in Atlanta, all the rest were hideous
Right. To my memory, he didn't have a single 'good' game. And I don't consider stat padding in meaningless game [good]
I was watching my DVR'd Jets-Fins game 17 from last season, Geno's perfect game. (158 QB rating) Here's what the announcers had to say "You can see a maturity taking place with him...he has the desire, he really wants to be a great QB and wants to work at it...he does embrace the fact that he's got a lot of work to do, he owns up to it...that's the most impressive thing." And that was his most recent game. He only had one great receiver to throw to (Decker), and still Geno and Decker torched the Fins to the tune of 200+ yards, and Geno finished with over 350 yards, 3TD, and 0 INT. Sure it's just one game, but it's his most recent one, and now he's got a ton of more weapons around him. Year 3 is often when players make a big leap forward, when they really emerge, so everything seems to be in place for Geno Smith to really emerge as a quality QB this year, if not an outright star! How can any reasonable, unbiased Jets fan NOT be optimistic given all this! G-E-N-O GENO GENO GENO! We may be hearing that a lot this year!
He admits what most of us know, that he is not a good QB, and that is the most impressive thing about him? LOL, good one.
Miami was already making tee times, packing it in, discussing vacation in the huddle, tanking, etc... Something our jets should've been doing so we could be discussing Smiths replacement today instead of how bad he is
