http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/art...ebf84-9c48-43c2-b718-a2f988f1e1f5?campaign=tw interesting... There's competition at TE as well, but the roles are more alphabetically defined, as Bowles revealed as to why Jeff Cumberland is getting more first-team reps than Jace Amaro. "Well, he’s the first-team tight end right now. Amaro is the H right now, he’s the first-team H," said the coach. "We play with two. When you have a down tight end on the ball, that’s more Cumberland’s thing, but when you have an H back or an F position, that’s more Amaro’s thing. It’s not the matter of fact that he’s the first-team tight end. He’s the first Y, Amaro is the first H.
i don't believe Amaro is actually a TE, as he can't play inline, run block, or pass protect. really i see him as a subpackage guy, playing maybe 50% of snaps. if he is contributing really well in those packages, maybe they'll run more of that, and his snap count will go up. but i agree, he needs to figure out how to block or he'll never receive a high amount of snaps, regardless of position.
I really am surprised that Kellen Davis hasn't pushed Cumberland out of the in-line role yet, but I guess blocking deficiency won't be evident until they have full pads on.
man our TE situation just sucks. not a complete player on the roster. agree Cumberland is terrible inline, and Davis wouldn't make the vast majority of NFL teams.
what other vets are out? i believe only Mo (contract dispute), Marshall (prior engagement yesterday, he'll be back), and Richardson were absent yesterday. Bowles had no explanation as to why Richardson was out, and apparently he's been missing a good portion of OTA's. i know it's voluntary, but this time is important. especially with a new coaching staff and defensive system being installed.
yeah really... I guess im not an NFL player so i have no right to say this but, I feel if I was in a situation where the franchise is going through a major overhaul I would be in every meeting and every OTA. especially when you are in a business that rewards winning. ESPECIALLY if I was in Richardson case where he has an opportunity to become the face of the franchise, showing the commitment to be at the voluntary workouts goes a long way with some of the more hardcore fans.
Rich is an asshole for doing that. If he wants to be Mo's agent go get another job. We needed him there.
AFAIK there's nothing confirming that's why he did not show up this week and the only place I have even heard the idea raised is in this forum. No reason to call him an ahole because somebody on a forum started a baseless rumor
It is a possibility that's why he's not showing up. The Idea is based on comments made from Richardson last year. He could also be sending a message that he doesn't want his contract negotiations to take a similar route, when the time comes. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...don-richardson-to-jets-pay-muhammad-wilkerson
Yes it's a possibility and it's also a possibility that he didn't show up because he was kidnapped by Somalian pirates but unless there is some sort of basis in truth for thinking he'd miss practices out of support the contract negotiations of a teammate (which I have never heard of any player ever doing, anywhere) I don't think it's necessary to be trashing the guy for what amounts to a baseless rumor in a message board
I have an autographed picture of Sheldon Richardson. He writes his name $heldon Richardson. (Dollar sign as the S) This is a bad sign.
Not sure who was out but Bowles said a lot of them were. Of course it would be great if everyone was there every day but I don't see this as something to get worried about just yet.
I almost don't care where they have Amaro slotted to play. I'm most excited about hearing our defensive minded, former DC, head coach speak intelligently about his Offense. Nice change of pace.
Sadly, S-Rich being out probably has to do with Mo's contract situation. Too much of a coincidence for it not to be the case. Which if so, is beyond ridiculous. You aren't his agent, Sheldon. Worry about yourself and own game. Jets always seem to get these kinds of talented players, lol. Revis being the most money hungry player in the NFL, and S-Rich butting into affairs he has no business being in.
