http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/06/19/chip-kelly-sees-improvement-in-tim-tebow/ Here's some free advice from me to you, coach. If you wanna win lotsa lotsa lotsa lotsa football games, a division title and possibly a Super Bowl start Tebow. If you want a pat on the head from John Clayton, Stephen A. Smith and other media people because you made the 'right' choice playing the 'classic, protype' NFL QBs then lose your job in a couple of years start Buttfumbles or Bradford.
None of those QBs have come close to having a season like Tebow had in 2011. He took over a team headed for the NFL Draft lottery at 1-4 and led them to a division title. Winning football games is the name of the game and few do it better than Tebow. Kelly misses the playoffs again in 2015 his behind will be on the hot seat in 2016. Tim Tebow is good for the NFL too why wouldn't the NFL want another major attraction?
Kaep does it better than Tebow, compare stats! Yet you don't want Kaep, but love TT. I never thought this can possibly be true, but you're actually worse at QB evaluations than Junc.
Tim Tebow is a franchise quarterback. He has the looks to be the face of any franchise, he handles the media with ease, he's a ratings magnet he's a superstar, he makes the players around him better and last but not least he wins. Is the defintion of a franchise QB simply someone who throws a pretty pass, throws for lots of yardage and TDs, a high completion percentage? Tim Tebow won the AFC West in his last season as a NFL starter his story took the nation by storm, he followed that up by lighting up the #1 D in football in the playoffs. Since then he's been shut out of the league. Tim Tebow deserves to start in the NFL. Tebow > Buttfumbles, Bradford, Barkley
The 2011 Broncos streak to end 8-8 with a 7-4 run with Tebow at the helm: Week 6 - @Fins (0-5) Opposing QB Matt Moore, win in double OT somehow outlasting a putrid Fins squad. Fins had allowed 38, 23, 17, 26 and 24 points coming in. Broncos needed 2 OT's to score more than 15... Week 7 - Lions (5-2) Real QB here in Matt Stafford. 45-10 rout for the Lions. Week 8 - @Raiders (4-3) Real QB in Carson Palmer but he throws 3 picks on the day. McGahee goes for 163 yards and 2 TDs. 38-24 Broncos. Week 9 - @ Chiefs (4-4) Qb's are Matt Cassel and Tyler Palko. Tebow is 2 of 8 for 69 yards. 17-10 Broncos. Week 10 - Jets (5-4) QB is Mark Sanchez who is 24-40 252 and a pick. Tebow goes 9-20 104. Sanchez is sacked by Dumervil and gets hurt but nobody knows it at the time. It's the beginning of the end for him in NY. Week 11 - @Chargers (4-6) QB is Philip Rivers. Chargers are reeling having lost 5 games in a row coming in to the match. Rivers has an off day and they lose yet again 16-13. Tebow is 9-18 143 and a TD. Week 12 - @Vikings (2-9) QB is Christian Ponder. Tebow goes 10-15 202 and 2 TD's. Great performance in limited opportunities against one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Week 13 - Bears (7-5) QB is Caleb Hanie (THE Caleb Hanie). Tebow goes 21-40 237, TD and a pick. Broncos win 13-10 in OT because, well, Caleb Hanie... Week 14 - Patriots (10-3) QB is Tom Brady. Tebow goes 11-22 194 and Patriots blow out the Broncos 41-23. Week 15 - @Bills (5-9) QB is Ryan Fitzpatrick. Tebow goes 13-29, 185, TD and 3 picks. The Bills blow out the Broncos 40-14. Week 16 - Chiefs (6-9) QB is Kyle Orton. Tebow goes 6-22, 60, 1 pick and the Broncos lose a very important game 7-3. Ok, so Tebow gets a moment of glory in the WC game because the Steelers challenge him to throw the ball 60 yards in the air and he does that. Classic all-time goof by an otherwise great defensive mind in Dick LeBeau. If all the other guy can do is run and throw the bomb you don't blitz him like a mad dog and leave nobody back over the middle. Just think about it. So John Elway is in purgatory for an off-season in Denver because he knows Tim Tebow is not an NFL QB but somehow (really bad opposing QB's and teams mostly) he managed to rally a .500 team to .500 and win a division that nobody wanted to win that year. Then Peyton Manning saved his ass. Well, Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning. I'm not trying to shoot Tebow down here. If you want to believe that he's a good player and a winning player that's your prerogative. I just see the player who actually is, and that is not a good player and is unlikely to win except when the Caleb Hanies of the world are in play or the Carson Palmer's throw 3 picks, etc.
TT is franchise QB because he LOOKS well. Thanks for sharing your view on what makes a QBS franchise.
They finished 8-8 and were 1-3 when he took over, not exactly earth shattering. It was also in a division where you had 3 8-8 teams and one 7-9 team. If all it took was an 8-8 record the Jets would have won the division 13 times since 1997. He had a 46.5% completion percentage, by far the worst in the league, no other QB was under 50%. He was 47th ranked, in a league of 32 teams, in YPG. I won't bother showing how far below everyone else he was in just about every statistical category. He then won a single wild card game before completing 9 of 26 passes for 136 yards, zero TDs and a lost fumble. Saying Sanchez never had a season like Tebow did in 2011 is pretty ignorant of the truth being Sanchez took the Jets to the AFC Championship game 2 years in a row and in none of Sanchez' seasons was he as statistically bad as Tebow.
ESPN would love for Tebow to get a regular gig on an NFL team. He sells to a part of their audience that isn't all that easy to reach otherwise. He's also really marketable in areas of the country that don't care much about the NFL but prefer college football.
I agree completely! Tebow would be a goldmine for BSPN, but that doesn't mean he's a viable NFL starter.
Word out of Eagles camp is that Mark was looking good, too. Chip complimented him also saying he's better this year because like Tim he knows their system better and also a year ago Mark was coming off a season ending injury. The thing with Mark is he's always looked great in practice.
Tebow didn't get a fair shot at starting here because nobody has wood for the skills he possesses as a QB. All he has to do to get a real opportunity is look like a QB on the field. So far he hasn't been able to do that.
Chip Kelly wants to score as many points as possible in as little time as possible. Starting Tim Tebow would be his guaranteed ticket back to the NCAA in 2016.
oh shit, you're being serious aren't you? uh, yeah I'd take a QB thats capable of throwing an accurate "pretty" pass an amassing good stats over a QB who's only pro claim to fame was sticking tough while some lucky breaks came along and his D was able to compensate for low scoring. Stats are only half the story, sure, but they do suggest a QB thats fundamentally capable of playing the position or running an offense. thats much more than I can say for Tebow, who's terrible accuracy and ability to read defenses stops any hope of his being even a regular backup. he makes Geno look like A-Rod in comparison. the biggest issue is nothing tim had done in that stint can rationally be considered a part of a repeatable method of offensive success. that O barely functioned, and the results were flukey. Tim Tebow is not a franchise QB, a franchise QB can be relied upon to play the position well more often than not, that cant be said about him. sanchez and bradford, for all they're struggles, have previously shown a much better fundamentally sound ability to play the position, they deserve to start. Tim is just lucky another out of favor 3rd stringer is there so he can have a CHANCE at THAT job.
Throwing a shitty football is not important to an NFL team. It's how you look and how you handle the media that is of paramount importance for an NFL QB. _
